Wow Diet & Exercise Work
So I buckled down this week. Counted every little calorie, even the calories from a stick of S.F. gum and the two tablespoons of milk in my coffee. I increased my intensity and amount of exercise and today I hit my lowest weight. I'm below my original goal weight, and I have 4 more days to go before my 1 week trial ends.
I'd like to lose 13 more pounds and see what running and cycling are like at 175.
I'm sure I'm just going to sink more when I swim, but the wetsuit should offset that a bit.
It's amazing what being honest with the calorie intake is and how putting out effort can make a difference.
I had found a comfortable pace for my daily 5k's that really weren't producing any perceived effort. I increased the speed on the treadmill just 1 mph more than the comfort zone and decreased the calore intake by a minimum of 300 calories. (it's just a guess on the calories because I wasn't really counting them accurately before) the weight has begun dropping again. 1200 calories and exercise means dropping weight. 1500-1800 calories and slacker exercise = stationary weight for me.
So the next test will be when I hit that 175 pound mark I need to see if that 1500-1800 calories will maintain that weight or if it will go back up. I'm feeling a little deprived at 1200 calories, but I was pretty happy at 1500-1800 and my weight was pretty stable. So hopefully that will play out as well with a weight of 175.

Great job staying focused!
I also found this out last summer after I'd gained some weight (15#) the last 6 weeks of school. It was really cool that it actually worked like it's supposed to (less food, more exercise)! It took most of the summer, but I got it off.
Also, I weighed myself this morning. The scale had been moving up a touch, but since the B12 shots and increased activity throughout the day (not just workouts) I've lost the few I gained plus another couple!
It really is nice to know it all still works even after 6 years!

School's been really hard this semester, especially considering the B12 issues, but I'm still moving forward. At the end of this year, I'm half done with the program. Four years seems like a long time, but it also feels like I just started when I'm almost half done.
I don't cook as much, but I try to be careful about what I eat. I just don't care sometimes. The bigger issue is getting all the workouts in. We have at least one exam a week, and usually one quiz too along with the other work that needs to be done. That means lots of study hours, and I'm better in the mornings than late at night. The problem is the workouts are also better in the mornings, so when I'm studying I'm not training. That's when the weight comes back on - not so much bad food as limited exercise.
Thanks for asking and giving me the opportunity to vent a little

Thanks Dan,
How is the week of shred going for you?
Oh it's hard today, I'm craving carbs. Not the whole wheat multi grain kind of carbs either. It's more like the sticky bun with extra frosting kind of craving. I wish I could get out of work and hit the gym. That would kill that craving, but I'm stuck at my desk with minimal work to keep my mind occupied, so it keeps going back to food.
