I want to run!
Just looking for some advice and info. I had surgery 2/9/10 and have lost 78 lbs, down to 249 and my goal is to learn to run. Other people dream they fly, I dream I run.
At what point did you guys start running? I am not sure how to start, i am currenly walking daily, am up to 60+ minutes 5x weekly.
Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! You will find much inspiration here, I think!
I second Dan's suggestion of the couch to 5K plan. That's what I started with! It's a great self-guided map to running, and what's great is you can repeat weeks as needed - just don't SKIP any!
It may sound silly, but you might want to research running a bit - learn some good stretches, especially if you want to move beyond the 5K distance (some of us nutjobs get hooked and just keep going!). Any stretching is also good for walking, which you clearly already do a bit of!

Both praise and blame cause concern,
For they bring people hope and fear.
The object of hope and fear is the self
For, without self, to whom may fortune and disaster occur?
Therefore,
Who distinguishes himself from the world may be given the world,
But who regards himself as the world may accept the world.
-Verse 13, Self, Tao Te Ching
No price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself. - Nietzsche

Don't tell me you really don't know how to run??? You just have to increase your speed in walking. But if you really can't make it, theres no reason to get upset, all you have to do is to do brisk walking at least 15 minutes a day and soon you'll realize that you were no longer walking but instead --- you were already running. Hurray for that!
Health is important!
