sore from first real workout... how long does it last?
Okay... so i started the P90 (not the X yet) program last night!
During the first video, everything was easy to follow and felt good!
Today however, I am so sore!!! Its a good hurt, .... and cant wait to do the second video tonight!
I have never been committed to working out till now... how long will the soreness/stiffness last?

A hot shower promotes the lactic acid to stay in your muscles, and unless you want to remain sore for a longperiod of time, don't do warm showers, baths, or jacuzzi afterwards. Immediately following your workout take a very cold shower or ice bath. This constricts the blood vessels... thus trapping the lactic acid in them, not allowing anymore to flow into the vessel. once the body warms back to temperature, the old blood containing lactic acid in your muscles will be flushed out by a new supply of fresh blood, free of most lactic acid. This is why many pro athletes ice bath after a game or intense workout. The soreness gets better with time, but as you stated, it's a good hurt...

Information seems to be inconclusive. Some of the tests show improvement, so don't. Some show improvements for different types of exercise sprint type activities vs. endurance type activities.
I actually watched a recent youtube video from the Ironman in Hawaii where they were using inflatable lower body suits similar to the stockings they put on you after surgery. They would then pressurize and depressurize them in an effort to recover post workout.
Compression gear has also gained a large following because of similar effects.
