Tri gear question

I have a sprint triathlon in October. I live in Coastal GA so the swim is an open water swim in the Atlantic ocean. Has anyone done an ocean swim in the Atlantic around this time? Should I get a full wetsuit or a sleevless wetsuit? I won't be able to purchase the wetsuit until the first week of September, then I will be able to go to the beach and practice in whichever wetsuit I get. I am a strong swimmer. I will eventually be able to buy both, but for now on our budget its one or the other. Goggles,do I buy clear or smoke? Also, when I ride my bike I wear a camelbak, will this be allowed during the tri? Its a USA Triathlon sanctioned event.

sorry, i'm no help on the ocean open water swim or the wetsuit questions, i don't have a wetsuit, and i haven't done any ocean swims.  for goggles, it is your preference, if your eyes are sensitive you may want to go with smoke ones, i use clear ones and haven't had any issues with sun.  camelback shouldn't be a problem, i wore one during my 70.3 so go for it if you feel you need it.  with a sprint, you may not need one unless you aren't really comfortable with using bottles/cages etc. good luck!
Where are we going??  And why am I in this handbasket??

right now.  somewhere.  somebody is working harder than you.

Thanks Bill,I was thinking clear goggles but I wasn't sure,I will try those and see how I like them. I am getting my aerobars tomorrow at the bike store so I will go ahead and buy bottles and cages and see how I like them,I have a 3 liter camelbak mule so that might be kinda overkill for a sprint triathlon.

Jillian,

Congrats on your first Tri. I would guess it might be a *****illy. Our team is sponsored by XTERRA Wetsuits and there is a deal right now on an entry level wetsuit, that is actually very awesome for $99.99. Let me know when you are ready and I will hook you up with our coupon code.

I haven't done the ocean swim but I have completed swims in murky water, with a lot of debris. clear goggles are the best for me and as far as wetsuit consider transition to your bike and make sure you have good wicking in the suit, decrease chaffing and drys much faster in all the right areas.
