Hi
Just wanted to introduce myself, been reading off and on for about a week or so. Love this board and didn't even know it existed until someone on the lap band board mentioned it in a post!
I started with the C25K program back in March and ran my first 5K in May. Since then I have done a monthly 5K and started in June training for my first 10K. That race is coming up on Sunday and so excited and ready!!! Since my training is complete...race day here...I need another event to train for. So today I signed up for my first 1/2 marathon. It will be January 30! So exicited. I run it all, mental thing thinking I fail if I don't haha. So I need time to train. I use the Galloway method but I don't walk...just run. I am slowly improving and seeing exciting results. I was never a runner and now I like it...not love it but love the results :)
I ran my first 5K in 41:30 min and last month I ran my 5th 5K in 33 min!! I can do it in a few seconds under 30 min but haven't done it in a race yet. My goal is to do the 10K in 1 hr and 14 min or under. Any better I will be ecstatic but my most important goal is to finish (and not walk...again, that is just my thing).
I also do other things working out wise. I do step twice a week, but taking a month off to change things up with a bootcamp. I work out at the gym 2 times a week as well. I had lapband surgery (realize band) Dec 29, 2010 and so far have lost 110 pounds! I am 7 away from my intial goal but have since revised that and am about 33 pounds away from my new goal. Things have definitely slowed down in the recent months but that was expected...still discouraging though. Hence the reason for bootcamp and changing things up. Hoping the extended runs will boost the weight loss as well.
Excited to be on this board and love the ideas and motivation!

Awesome and welcome, please hang around and post a lot :) Love to read the race reports!
Don't be discouraged about the weightloss.. as some point you should start thinking in terms of performance versus pounds :)
Best of luck in the 10k, 1:14 is a good time for a first timer, but like you said just finish (since its your first, you're guaranteed a PR if you finish :)
