Congrats..that is great progress at 3 weeks post op.  As you continue to heal and build up your strength, you will be able to increase your miles and speed.  Keep up the great progress!

I'm walking and not having any pain. How long before I can start working out, at least on the exercise bike or something low-impact? My surgeon's instructions say no vigorous activity for 4 weeks, but I can ride a recumbent bike less than vigorously... I'm getting stir-crazy just walking.

Temporarily holding on losing more because I'm gaining!  Pregnant with my first baby (a boy!) due June 2013, after two rounds of IVF.  SO GRATEFUL!

I was told walking for 6 weeks, then I could do machines, weights, elliptical, running, etc. Honestly I didn't feel like doing anything other than walking until like 3 months but mine was open, that might be the problem.

My lap RNY was a day after yours.  I am walking 30 minutes twice a day.  I bought a heart rate monitor so I can measure my increased effort.  Saw my surgeon Wednesday.  He cleared me to use hand weights under 15 pounds for arms & shoulders and he cleared me to go back to zumba starting Monday.  He did caution me that I probably would run out of energy before the 60 minutes is up and to listen to my body.  He told me absolutely to stay off weight machines, bicycles, and elipticals until 4 weeks out.  My 15 pound lift limit is until my 6 week followup and no abdominal crunches/sit ups until the 6 week followup.

Yay for us for adopting exercise so quickly and making it part of our new life.

I am creating my own revolution and PAMdemonium reigns!
