Kitchen Equipment to help Banders

I loved my bullet, but I gave it to my kids and haven't replaced it yet.  The thing I didn't like about the Bullet was all the pieces to store that do not stack on or inside each other.  They were always falling all over the place.  I bought a biggest looser scale for about $10 months ago.  I just bought a Slap Chop from Bed, Bath and Beyond for chopping things fine without getting them into paste in the blender.  I didn't want to spend a lot on things for the liquid or mushie stage because after that, I wouldn't be drinking much in the way of meals unless I had just gotten a fill or a problem.  Good luck!

Unless you are really good about portion sizes, I would get a scale to help teach you what 3oz, 4oz, etc.. look like on various foods.  You might be very surprised.

A blender is good in the beginning, but a medium priced one is good enough.  I also used baby sippy cups to make sure I didn't drink too much at one time. (my co workers just think I'm nuts!)

Such a personal thing! If you are going to  make your own protein purees, then you need some sort of blender. But only for the first few weeks.

I don't measure foods. Smoothies need to be treated with caution - a surprising number of calories, even with just fruit in them.

Once you are beyond the post-op diet, you should not need anything anyone else doesn't have in the kitchen!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I have the GNC shaker bottle and I've had a Magic Bullet for years, which is now being used multiple times a day for my preop diet (can't stand the protein shakes unless they are really really mixed up, lol).  You can drink right from the mixer container, less to clean up.

A few years ago, when I was on WW for the millionth time, I bought their digital food scale and I LOVE it.
Waiting for the NEW ME!!!

The magic is mystifying me with the bullet.  I bought one upon a recommendation and have not been impressed. My old blender gets smoothies smoother and takes up less storage.  the bullet leaves ice chunky and I can't use it when the baby is taking a nap upstairs because it is so loud.

I bought a special drink mixer that would make smoothies, handle the ice, chop things, etc. I used it at first only because I had it and didn't want to admit I had wasted my money. Now it is down in a cabinet taking up space.  However, the little scale I bought 33 years ago when I first joined Weigh****chers has been in constant use.  I think I must have paid $5 for it. I think of getting a newer, better one, but hey.

I honestly didn't do anything special for mushies. I used fat free refried beans, cottage cheese, etc.
My advice, keep it simple. Sue

I bought a little scale (I don't trust myself) and a magic bullet, I use both almost daily.  The other thing that I bought and love are the 1 cup plastic containers, I think maybe they are made by Ziplock.  You will find what works for you!  Good luck!

I use something similar to the Magic Bullet I got from QVC and an Immersion Hand Blender all the time.  The hand blender works great for jello, puddings, soups, dips, dressings, etc.  I use it more than I ever used my regular blender.  I bought a scale.  But I hardly ever use it.  Measuring cups work just as well.

I love my kitchen scales. I always weigh my protien because in the beginning I tended to eat too much protien. I try to keep my protien at 2 - 3 oz so the scales help

I bought that Ninja Blender system on QVC... I use it ALL THE TIME.  It was especially helpful in the pureed stage, did way better than my kitchen aid food processor.   I use it now for all kinds of things (fresh salsa, cole slaw, skinny girl margaritas ;o)
