Hi! Good to have you here.

I can't really comment on your low energy. Although I have suffered from it on occasion, it hasn't been a big issue for me.

But I do know exactly what you mean about quickly re-gaining those lost pounds. I've been working on this weight-loss thing for about a year now. And over this past year there have been times when I gave myself more food "liberties" and in the process gained 3-5 pounds. But I have found that if I don't overdo it, those few pounds will come off within about a week or two.

I've just come to the realization that "dieting" is going to have to be for life. It's not that I think I can never have my favorite foods again, I just can't have them everyday.

Anyway, welcome to the board. Good luck with your last 45 pounds. I have about 35 pounds to go myself. Not too bad, all things considered...

Who has two thumbs and is no longer obese? THIS GIRL!!!

Wow, sometimes it seemed like I would never get here. And no wonder, it only took a year to do it (sarcasm). Looking at my “one-derland" post I realized that it took almost 5 months to go from there to overweight. {SMH}

Actually, I sort of went on a dieting hiatus from around mid-November (went on vacation) through the end of the year. I just decided that I was going to cautiously enjoy (food and drink included) my vacation and the holidays. My only goal during that time was to maintain my weight. Happily that is one goal that I met.

But one of the many things that I’ve learned during this process is that my goals have to be somewhat flexible. When I first began, Jan 3rd 2011, I hoped to be at goal within a year’s time. Then I just wanted to be overweight (BMI below 30) by the time I went on vacation, then by the end of 2011. Well I didn’t meet any of those goals.  =D   But I didn’t let that get to me. I just kept plugging along.

Yes it has taken me longer than I would have liked, and much longer than it would have had I went ahead with the WLS. But I am happy with my decision to do this without WLS. And I know that I will eventually get to goal.

Except for my “hiatus" I am still doing what I was when I hit one-derland. I drink 12-14 8oz glasses of water a day. I have a fiber drink everyday, which (among other things) keeps me full for hours. I still have a couple protein shakes a day as meal replacements. And my meals mimic those of a good WLS patient, protein first. I’ve almost completely given up starchy carbs. Except for a bite every now and then off my hubby’s dinner plate, I don’t eat pasta, potatoes, bread, chips or tortillas anymore. And probably the toughest change from my life a year ago, I only have wine once or twice a month now instead of 2-4 times a week like before.

I’m sorry that I haven’t spent any time here over the past 2 months. I blame that on my “hiatus". I hope that everyone is doing well and achieving goals.

Are you drinking protein shakes? If so, that's how I started to. Good luck!

 welcome! I agree with the talking to your Dr, i have a few imbalances that are being corrected with vitamins and meds that had me sooo sluggish I literly could sleep for 20 hours and not feel rested.

as far as the gym, I have found a personal trainer SOO worth the money, I have lost more weight, and seen more improvements in the 6 weeks that I have had a PT than in the year without! and I was spending 2 hours a day 5 days a week, now I stil go 5 days a week, 2 with my PT and 3 for an hour class, and through the holidays I had lost!!! LOVE my personal trainer..(so got carried away there!)

Good luck and feel free to post any other questions, I hope you find the support you need!
