Topic: RE: Did Weigh****chers Work for you?

Prior to WLS when I was 380 lbs, I managed to lose 90. But when I tried again after gaining some of it back, nope. Never worked for me again. I tried it once post op and the plan just didn't cause me to lose more than 3-5lbs.

I've managed to lose 30 lbs of a 70lb+ regain at 4.5 yrs out though by committing my food everyday and not straying from it at all. I've given up sugar and flour and personal binge items. I try to eat protein forward meals but I do eat carbs in 1/2 cup portions 1-2x day.

Topic: New to the group Obese Father on a mission

Hello everyone. New here to the group but wanted to introduce myself. I'm 37 and a husband & father here in Michigan. I've been obese my whole life as far back as I can remember. I'm looking to gain support from others in my journey to lose and get the weight off. I recently started a healthy way of eating on the no sugar no grains lifestyle and in my first month I lost just under 45 pounds. I'm trying to get my story out to the masses as I feel it's important and I hope that even if it's just one person that I may be able to touch the hearts of and make a change that it was well worth it.I'm not trying to spam the forum at all, I'm just looking for support. I started a podcast on iTunes really getting involved with my struggle with obesity. It's all about me and my struggles with obesity. Being super obese. It really has been an outlet for me to talk about things that I don't normally talk about with others. But I felt that if I was going to succeed that I had to get these story's out in the open. If interested in checking it out please take a look at my profile for the link or search iTunes podcasts for "The Fat Father Chronicles"I hope to build some relationships with you all on your own journeys as having support makes this so much easier for me.Thanks everyone

Topic: Did Weigh****chers Work for you?

Hi Everyone!

I am only about 40 LBS from my goal weight.  I was considering using weigh****chers to try to get there.   Has anyone had any luck or success using this?  I wanted to ask before I waste any money.

Thanks

Congratulations on your success with the pills. I wish they had worked for me but I am scheduled for the sleeve in 11 days and both excited and nervous. By the way I had "occasional sleep apnea" when I was younger and only weighed 108 pounds which makes me think there is more to it than weight!

Great Job!  Unfortunately, we don't have a strong group in my area.  Feel more depressed coming out than when I went into a meeting.

I'm doing my 6 month insurance requirement and my physician has me using Contrave which is an anti-narcotic mixed with a chill pill.  It has allowed my to control my triggers and I can actually say no when a craving hits.  Grazing also cut down.  Trick will be sustaining and not yo-yo'ing back up as I don't plan to stay on this forever.  Plus side for now is my A1C went from 10 to 5.7.  For some reason my sleep apnea gets worse as I lose weight.  Doc said I'm keeping the CPAP regardless of what weight I reach.

Topic: Struggling with food addiction/compulsive eating?

I had the VSG in 2011. Lost 230 lbs or so. Got down to a weight I could have been happy at. But I struggled with my eating and even though I changed my life style, I couldn't stop eating. I ended up gaining about 70 lbs. I freaked out though and decided I needed serious help. I tried therapy and diets and an eating disorder program and they all failed.

But then I found Overeaters Anonymous. It has been  miracle and has honestly caused such a change in me and my eating. I've been off sugar and flour for 30 days and haven't engaged in any compulsive eating. It feels so much different than any diet I've been on.

My sleeve still works. My nutrition knowledge is still there. If I use what I have, I'll be successful. I managed to drop 18 lbs my first 30 days which was awesome.

If anyone wants more info or wants to talk, send me a PM.
