Topic: Sugar

I am out of DS for about 17 years. I am having a lot of pain in my gut. I have had stomach issues since day one, but I have managed. I figured it was the price I had to pay for not eating according to the "rules".  I have gone to many Docs and gotten absolutely opposite suggestions over the years. Too much fat, not enough fat, take 6 fiber pills a day, stop fiber it makes cramps/pain/bloating worse. I do have loose stools about three times a day. Most days I need to use an enema though.

Las few days I have been thinking maybe it's sugar overgrowth. I use four tablespoons of white death in every cup of coffee I have which is about four cups. I am currently on an antibiotic routine of two weeks on two weeks off which used to help. It really isn't anymore. I'm to the point I'm willing to follow the rules. It only took about 17 years, lol. I went from 330 to 135 my first year. The last four years I've pretty much stayed at 159, which I'm fine with. I do yoga, walk and meditate about five days a week   I guess I'm hoping there is another suggestion to ease pain without giving up my sugar.

Is there?  Fingers crossed.

Topic: Why is protein so important.

Just wondering. I can't eat protein powder so I'm not sure if I meet my daily protein requirements. Will this matter in the long term.?

Topic: RE: Post-op Soup

Have you tried adding unflavored protein powder to the soups?  That could possibly balance out any carbs from the vegetables.  I'm still on the immediate post-op liquid diet and have yet to eat anything besides protein shakes, broth, and water.  I'm thinking that when I get the okay to advance my diet, I'm going to add protein powder to soups and yogurt and things like that.

Topic: Post op full liquid diet

I'm just 2 weeks out from RNY and am having a hard time with the protein shakes - I don't like sweets and can barely choke down the same old chocolate, vanilla, and other sweet-tasting protein supplements.  I also found that my tastes have changed a little after surgery and the "chicken soup" flavored protein from Unjury isn't as good as it was before surgery.  I've tried things like mixing PB2 peanut butter with Isopure unflavored protein, as well as low-carb, low-fat cheese powder with the Isopure, but most days I barely manage to make my protein goal, and some days I've fallen far short because I just can't stand the sweet stuff.  I've looked for different protein products, but there's not a lot of variety out there.  I'm looking forward to my diet advancement this week, but I'm worried about not getting enough protein if I can't stand to supplement with the shakes.  Does anybody have any ideas?

Topic: RE: Anyone have an Air Fryer?

I loved my air fryer. I used to bake half a breast. So well cooked and juicy. My boyfriend kept it after I bought it,  when he left me for getting my wls. Aint that something.  Yes I do recommend.

Topic: RE: Eating Constantly

A few weeks beyond my surgery I felt hungry too.  It does depend a lot on what you eat.  When I eat carbs, it totally raises my blood sugar and I get hungry.  Like the previous person said if I concentrate on protein, my hunger is minimal.

Topic: RE: DEHYDRATED

I'm just over a week out from having my surgery and I'm still struggling to get all my fluids in. I think now that I have a better handle on what my body is able to handle it will be easier to drink more. I was just so worried in the very beginning that I'd drink too much too fast. I would check with your doctor about the leg cramps though. That's probably the last thing you'll want to have to deal with right after surgery. I know there are some good muscle rubs and essential oils out there for leg cramps - might be worth looking into just to be on the safe side. If you decide to go with oils make sure you get certified pure therapeutic grade. Some bottles will say "cptg" on them. I usually just go with the do Terra brand because they're consistently good and you never have to guess with them. :)

Topic: RE: DEHYDRATED

I'm also concerned about dehydration as I get pretty bad leg cramps. Surgery this coming Thursday. On Jardiance a diabetes med which sometimes if I don't drink enough I get leg cramps. Likely I'll be off that med after surgery but still concerned. I'm going to make sure I do my best to drink enough. NUT said minimum  of 50 ounces of fluid a day. Full liquid diet two weeks. Protein shakes must have at least 20 grams protein, less than 200 calories, and no more than 10 grams of sugar. She recommends Fairlife milk as it's very high in protein. I'm going to use Premier protein RTD and I just bought Combat protein powder.
