Hi Lisa, Lifeway has a protein kefir that I use . http://lifewaykefir.com/products/vanilla-protein-kefir/
It is protein/carb balanced. I also take these probiotics : http://www.vitacost.com/garden-of-life-primal-defense-ultra- probiotic-formula-15-billion-cfus-216-vegetarian-capsules
I researched a bit and found they are the most comprehensive, although the they are a bit pricey. I am on pre-surgery diet right now and am thinking that post-surgery I will just pull the caps apart and take the powder. Not sure how that will work.....
i hope this was helpful!

Thanks for posting the info about getting samples. There are not many protein shakes out there that don't make me nauseous. And Fairlife milk is the only one I can tolerate to use when I do manage to find a powder that doesn't make me sick. The one I am using now is BE Inspire protein powder, but they only have 1 flavor that I actually like, which is Vanilla. I am 4 years out and still like to drink a protein shake especially in the morning. I'm usually not ready to eat early in the morning.
I have been getting samples of different protein powders knowing that my 2 week pre-op will begin on 6/12. I have found that the Chike brand is not too sweet overall. I have been mixing it with Fairlife Skim milk which has extra protein and is lactose free. Nashua Nutrition sells samples of many different brands and flavors. I have found that, with the exception of the Chike shakes, that anything with sucralose (Splenda) is over-the-top sweet to me.

So, I have started my first two week liquid diet cycle and I need so help! After two and a half weeks of high protein/low carb (lost 9 lbs so far) switching to the liquid has been super hard. Every thing is extremely sweet and overwhelming. I can't get the shakes down because they are too sweet or taste nasty. Ive tried the soup broths and they are super salty and I can't stomach how they taste. I'm living on crystal light (sweet but can tolerate it) and sugar free popsicles. I have unflavored protein powder to put in my drinks if I need to but was really hoping to find something that worked or at least some variety. Im only on day one and not sure how I am going to make it to day 14.
suggestions??

I agree to focus on lean protein foods first! They are the most filling foods. To be honest, I wouldn't be overly concerned if you can eat more than 1/2 cup of food as long as it's the right foods. If you make your meals 2/3 lean solid protein and 1/3 non-starchy vegetables...it doesn't matter how much you eat because it's the right foods for weight loss and hunger control. Eat two bites of the lean meat for every one bite of vegetable and stop at your personal feeling that you are satisfied and are done. I've had many, many patients have TONS of success even if they ate more than a cup of food at a meal because it was the RIGHT food! Eat soft, high carb foods and you'll be able to intake larger portions and get hungry more often.
Also, it's better to fill up with what you need 3 meals per day than to get hungry in between meals and fall into snacking! Stalls are SOOOO normal and the #1 phone call I get in my office. Keep a food journal and keep up with walking and water...and you'll see it through soon :)
Best of luck!!
I am a sugar addict too. I have known it for years bit unfortunately did not stop myself until I got to this point. I'm determined not to let it get me again now that i've had surgery. Ive never seen either film, may habe to look them up.

Keep yourself hydrated and you will not feel famished every now and then.
Four "pillars" to weight loss...
- Drink 96 oz water a day (6 bottles of water)
- Eat consistent meal times (don't skip meals and avoid going more than 5 hours without eating some protein)
- Focus on lean protein and low starch veggies, avoid high starch/sugar/fat foods (breads, pasta, rice, etc)
- Consistent exercise! Walking 30 min a day 4 to 5 days a week does wonders for the scale
I hope that helps! Best of luck to you!!
Try cutting your bites up smaller. When the bite is too big it can get stuck at the upper portion of your pouch which makes you full after just a few bites and also causes "frothing" which is typically mucous trying to get the stuck food to move through. Cut your bites up before you eat to the size of a peanut and go slowly. Worth a shot!! Might help you to get in those healthy fats too.
Congratulations on your new baby!! I had my first child in December and have also struggled getting into a consistent exercise routine with a new baby. I wrote an article for Obesity Help a few weeks ago on getting back on track if it helps!
