Try to eat fresh food which contain more water content in it. That will make you full and healthy. Try fresh fruits. leafy greens, dark chocolates, oat clusters, etc.

I eat Starkist Tuna packets like they are going out of style :)

Protein powder that can be made into shakes comes to mind.  If needed - I still do that.

there are also a lot protein bars, jerky (the low sugar version), or shelf-save meat sticks.  Meat-based epic bars - It is easy to take with you . Tuna - packed in individual pouches - is easy on the  go meal-snack..

when I travel - most hotel rooms have fridges or you an ask for one.. I go to a store and buy cold cuts, some veggies.

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for food high in protein that doesn't need refrigeration.  I will be travelling 4 months post op.  Thanks.

I am, too!  Also I am a compulsive eater.  Low carb has been the only way I have ever been able to lose weight.  I am getting sleeved in August, and I worry about regain if I can't stick with it.  Just gotta do what I know works.

There's a new documentary called "Sugarcoated" that is also pretty fabulous.

18 days post op that is fine!  Let's you get all your drinking in that way, too.

I actually do intermittent fasting (IF).  I fast 12 hours (from 12a - 12p).  I eat my first meal at or after noon, and don't eat after 12.  Though, it's really more like 16-18 hours since I don't eat past six.  I eat 3 small meals during that time.

I didn't do this close to post-op, of course.  For me, IF helps regulate my hunger much better than more frequent meals.  I also eat a more moderate protein/higher fat diet (low carb) which it works well with.  Paired with Harvey/teenystomach, it's helped me stay on track and reduce cravings a lot.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Topic: RE: Last meal before pre-op diet?

I had been making some changes for several weeks but I did think about that "last meal" because I will be on liquids for a long time post-op.  I decided on spaghetti because it is something I may never eat again.

The link is in my signature. It is about getting back to a protein forward diet, and getting the carb cravings out of your system.
