You got lucky. Me too. I could practically chug liquids from day 1. Protein fills me up fast. Good way to be. Easy to stay hydrated, but still limited on food intake.
hi everyone, has ANYONE tried the gnc lean protein shake? its on my list but i dont seem to hear anyone trying it. i tried the premier vanilla and i don't like it. any other suggestions? thanks
Or vice-versa: add instant coffee (and milk, if you want a thinner consistency) to the vanilla protein drink. It took quite a bit of the instant coffee to get the taste to my liking.
I track everything on MyFitnessPal so that I can make sure to hit my minimum grams of protein and avoid hitting my maximum grams of carbohydrates every day. It's not going to be accurate to the exact calorie count, but it gets pretty close as long as I am weighing and measuring my food whenever possible.
I'm not a fan of vanilla protein either, but the last time I bought some I was able to use it as 'creamer' in my coffee without the weird sweetness or protein flavor bothering me too much. Might be something to try if you are allowed coffee.
Ask your Dr, every surgeon and nutritionist are different. Mine is total carbs but I do not count veggie carbs.

Its a good thing that you keep an eye on what you eat and count you calories. It helps to maintain weight. Following the same regularly we become habituated about our calories consumption.
I am trying to get my 100-120 grams of protein as well as 100 grams of carbs in each day... just wondering how many of you post-surgery continue to count grams each day or do you just "know" that you are getting close to the right amount? I still watch my 64 ounces of water... but the protein I just assume I am getting enough based on what I eat, and if I feel a bit short for the day I will supplement in the evening with a protein drink or something similar. My surgeon did not put me on a calorie limit, just the amount of protein and carbs I needed each day. Obviously, I am not able to eat as much when I limit myself to 3 meals and 3 skim milk snacks. So I have to be protein aware at every meal. But counting I don't do any more.

Hi,
I mixed the vanilla with strawberries today as suggested. I could still taste the powder but I think it may just take some getting used to. I drank it quickly which I know after surgery will need to slow down. One step at a time. Thanks for all the suggestions, I will try almond milk Monday after doing groceries!
thanks again for the support!
