Topic: RE: Having trouble getting down 8 oz broth

Thanks, I've tried several, just plain too salty and intolerable.  I know the need for sodium, and know I would still need to get in the water too, but there isn't any protein in this stuff - just salt and a strong aftertaste.

Topic: 8 Years Out!!!

Hi All, I had my surgery 8 years ago on Jan 8th 2009 and in 15 months I lost 116lbs.  Then the creep started to happen.  Just 10lbs at first and I was OK then 10 more and so on until I've gained back 65lbs.  No reason for the gain, I just took my eye off the ball. Stopped doing the work.  I remember being told at a meeting by someone   "Who we were is who we will always be if we forget to work at being different."

I got back on track and on Jan 9 2017 I pretended I had surgery and started the 2 week liquid diet.  Followed the post surgery diet to the letter which is helping me kick the sugar and Carb addition.  I happy to report as of Monday I lost 17lbs.  Yes 17lbs in 1 week.  It was hard.  VERY HARD.  I was very VERY hungry but I kept with it and it is getting better.  I am grateful that my band still works.   I will do this until this coming Monday then I start week 3 or phase 3 puree diet for two weeks then stage 4 soft solid foods for two more weeks.  I am hoping that this will give me the weight loss to motivate me to keep going.  This is a commitment I make to myself.  Getting back on track and getting back to feeling well is what it is all about.

Topic: RE: Baby food?

Hi when I had my surgery I did use baby food.  I added it to Tomato soup and It was wonderful.  It help me get in my protein and a great transport for work.  Good luck to you.

Topic: Baby food?

I'm getting sleeved two weeks from Wednesday, and trying to plan in advance for the stages of eating afterwards. Given the nature of eating soft / pureed foods, commercial baby food came to mind as an easy, transportable way of getting protein in. I haven't researched the nutritional content of the "meat" items that are available, but just wondering if anyone else has tried and had any experience with this? Thanks!

Topic: RE: Grazing and how to put an end to it!

Grazing can definitely sabotage your weight loss efforts. Now if you can pre plan those snacks that your grazing on it might help you get back on track cuz now it isn't mindless grazing plus you know you'll have something to look forward to during your day & not feel deprived of anything.

Distracting yourself with anything other than eating will help. Some carry around water bottles & take a sip of that rather than reaching for food. You can write in a journal, color in one of those adult coloring books, read, take a walk etc. Me I like to do all of those things & update my Amazon wishlist. lol

I am 6 days post vertical sleeve and having difficulty getting broth down. The taste is terrible. Can I substitute a salt tablet instead (with additional water of course)?

no, you can't substitute a salt tablet. Why would you? The point of broth is for the small amount of protein it provides, plus fluid.

I take a multivitamin made specifically for bariatric patients, as well as calcium citrate supplement with vitamin D3.   The vitamin is just once a day, the calcium is 3x a day.  Here is what I take:

Id suggest trying a different brand, or a low sodium version, or adding different seasonings or a bit of water? I used a veggie broth that came in 1 liter cartons during my pre op. is there a reason you are drinking broth? To help get your liquids up? Or are you still on clear liquids?

everyones plan is different, and I was only on clear liquids for two days. Then a week of full liquids, where I mostly just had water and protein shakes.

good luck!
