Good for you for following your passion, Chrissy! And you won't catch any flak from me about being around food. I'm in the process of baking and decorating about six dozen cookies for Easter, and I'm not tempted by them one bit.
Let us know how it goes!

My mother in law asks me if I'm sure I don't want to eat any more when we go out to lunch or dinner with her. Or if I bring burgers and shakes for her and my father in law, she asks why I didn't get something for myself.
Every. Single. Freaking. Time.

Thanks, Sandy. I just figure it might draw some unnecessary comparisons to putting an alcoholic working in a liquor store...

Hmm, It sounds like I should give it another go especially since it's been a couple years since i've read them now (I chose not to buy the last books or any others until he's finished so I can get a full matching hardcover set), so I will be outdated soon on my info. Yay?
Happy Monday, lovelies! I hope everyone's week is starting off well :) I am posting this here because I know I'd probably catch flack on the VSG board, and I'm just too excited to mess with that!
I have a job interview tomorrow! I am interviewing to work in a trendy restaurant in Chattanooga called "Milk and Honey." They focus mainly on coffee, snacks, and desserts. They are famous for their gelato (it really is killer - Yes, I've tried it! GASP!). I had an "on the spot" interview last week, which went really well, and got the call for the 2nd interview today.
Once again, I am so thankful for my sleeve. If it hadn't been for this massive weight loss and all of the "teaching tools" that have come along with the entire WLS process, I would have NEVER ventured back into the culinary world. I worked as a director/cook for a volunteer organization in New Orleans back in college, but I never thought that cooking was going to be anything more than a fun hobby. Now that I've gotten my weight (pretty much) under control, I feel brave enough to pursue this thing that I am so passionate about. Honestly, why I didn't go to culinary school to begin with baffles me. I am a foodie. Always have been, always will be. And now I might get to do it as a paying career!
Wish me luck, guys!

My all time favorite is will always be my uncle's reaction to me at the hospital after surgery. My uncle came over to visit me the day after surgery and after speaking to me for a bit, I could tell that he was visibly upset. I was wondering what could be wrong. I even thought that maybe something happened and my doctor did not tell me and my family was keeping it a secret from me. He was really unhappy. I called my mom over and quietly asked her to please explain my uncle's behavior. She started to giggle and told me not to worry about it. When I pressed, she said, " He doesn't understand why you had WLS and are still fat". :) She wasn't kidding, he really thought that I would come out all skinny after weight loss surgery. I laughed so hard that I needed a pillow on my stomach to keep from crying in pain. I love my uncle and he loves me, but his reaction was priceless and the epitome of what people think about this being the "easy way out".
