Hi all,
I just noticed an inquiry on another forum about where to ask about sexual activity and I am curious myself. I don't think I need another forum when I have access to the wealth of info here on this board. For anyone who is comfortable answering, how long before you can resume regular sexual activity after RNY?
Thanks
Cherry

as soon as you feel comfortable, Cherry. There arent any strict guidelines, i dont think.

I think we started 2 months after surgery, but like Monica said when you are comfortable. Just remeber to use protection if you don't want to have babies!!!  We can become pregnant VERY easily after surgery!!!

to answer ToNewBeginnings' question:

with weight loss there is an improvement in fertility so that even those that have been infertile may get pregnant quickly once the weight starts melting away....however it is not safe to become pregnant till 18mths to 2 years after surgery when your weight loss has stabilized.

The handouts give upon release from the hospital said that you could resume sexual activity when you feel ready. Everyone is different In my case It was about two week, it took that long to feel normal again lol, my hubby survived (but barley) lol.

In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

Surgery July 22, 2011  Starting weight 270  128 lbs lost  Today's weight 142 lbs                 Ann

I was about 2 weeks for us as well.  Not exactly wild and crazy, swinging from the chandelier, type nookie, but we took into account that I had had recent surgery and changed things up a little and had no problems whatsoever!

I think it was about a week or so. Pain was gone for me by then.
