Two Years Ago Today

Today is my second surgiversary and I am proud to say I am happy with the OKNEE I am today.  I may not be as light a weight I was in High School and University but I am wearing a size smaller!!! 

Sometimes I lament about my "heavy" years and the life that was wasted sitting on my arse feeding my face with whatever empty calories I had in my house.  I lament about the $$$ spent on that garbage.  I lament having to buy what fit not what I wanted to wear. . .

I tell myself:

"HEY!!  Now your wasting time lamenting things you cannot fix!  That person, that lifestyle is behind you.  Leave in the past, enjoy the present and dream of a happy healthy future!"

Sounds kind of cliche but today is the first day of the rest of my life.

I want to thank my family and friends who stood by me from the day I decided to do this.

I want to thank Dr. Khandawala for encouraging me to ask about, pursue and take the big step and have WLS.

I want to thank Dr. Hagan for performing the surgery that gave me an active and healthy life back.

I also want to thank all my new friends I have made since joining this community.  The ones I have met in real life and the ones I know through cyber space.  Your support has made this journey a great deal easier.  Just knowing your not alone in these trials and tribulations has been comforting.

So Cheers, Cheers to 2 whole years, 198 pounds down with four more to go! 

Not only does Oknee feel like dancing, she can for hours now without becoming breathless and having aching bones for weeks after!

Very proud of you and thanks for the encouragement for us beginners.

Very moving.  Congratulations on two successful years, and thanks for being an inspiration to us all.

 Congratulations Leona... You have been so supportive to so many of use and an excellent source of information. Only got to meet you for a short time last christmas at Linda and Peter's but could tell you were a person with a big heart and your post shows that. Best wishes to you...and again bravo!!
