Able to sleep in their bed right after surgery?

Hello everyone!

I'm having surgery on November 1st.  We live in northern Ontario so we are staying in a hotel in Toronto for a few days.  Was everyone comfortable enough to sleep in their beds when they got home from the hospital?? I won't have access to my recliner.  All these thoughts are going through my mind now.  Thanks in advance for any input. Love this forum!!

I just had surgery on Monday and I was good but make sure you have lots of pillows to prop yourself up.

It felt good to sleep in my own bed. Little slow getting up. I was about a 2 weeks post op when I was able to sleep on my tummy.

I was only in the hospital overnight one night after surgery and I slept in my own bed every other night. I used a body pillow to support the front of my body and woke completely up everytime I wanted to roll over. lol My stomach muscles were sore for about a week or so. I think you will be fine.

I wish you all the best for your surgery on Tuesday and a speedy recovery.

I slept in my own bed when I got home. I sleep on my side & it was pretty comfortable. I wasn't in any pain from day 1 so that made it easier.

I could sleep in my own bed for 2 hrs a night and then had to go and sleep upright in the corner of my couch and use the ottoman. I was like this for 3 plus weeks after surgery as I am a side sleeper and just could not sleep that way in my bed. Good luck!

I made a point of making sure the hospital bed was completely flat when I slept so that I would be able to sleep on a flat bed when I got home.  This is probably totally silly, but I figured if I slept in a reclined position that things might start to heal up a bit that way and then laying flat would be like stretching it all out again in there.  Probably totally hooey, but it worked in my mind anyway!  LOL

Good luck!
