Every have a "down" period Post-op?
I have very limited energy, which I sort of thought it was due to the limited and drastically smaller amount of calories that I am now consuming, combined with the fact that body is still healing on the inside. And then I wondered if maybe this "down" feeling is also possible tied to a fluctuation in hormone levels?? Seems possible....
What I can say for sure, is I am definitely not myself this week. No desire to surf the OH site (or any other website), No desire to write, no desire to go anywhere or do anything. I force myself to go for walks with the dogs and to actually do stuff, but when I finish all I want to do is go back to bed...or take up couch surfing.
I started the puree stage yesterday, and I sort thought I would be eager to change up the foods and flavours when I got to this stage...but I have this don't-really-care attitude when it comes to food. I make sure that I consume atleast 80g of protein a day - no matter what, and for the most part I usually hit at least 75% of my goal for water...
To be totally honest, I can't believe I have typed all of this...because I really didn't plan on coming on this site to be a whiner... Please do get me wrong - I just wanted to know if anyone else has sort of experienced this so soon post-op... I AM NOT COMPLAINING.... I refuse to let myself do that.
By nature, I am generally a happy and optimistic person... I'm just a little baffled as to where the heck she went?

Surgery JAN. 19th, 2012 - Down 120 lbs & 75 inches @ my last Weigh in!!!!
In my case, it was after three week post-op.
I was listless. No other word for it. I kept waiting for the much-vaunted energy to show up ... and felt there must be something wrong with me, that it wasn't. Turns out tf was my body adjusting to the new intake.
When I finally realized that it had decided to go into preservation mode (i.e. they're starving me so I'd better just concentrate on keeping her alive) it was already starting to adjust. It took about 6 weeks to start to get energy back, and by about 9 weeks out I was beginning to feel a little more energized. When I had been back at work for about a month, and the weightloss was showing, people kept asking me "but don't you have more energy now?"
as though I was on one of my old diets.
And the answer was, frankly - no, I DIDn't have more energy now.
I was intaking about 700-800 calories a day. How could I have more energy???
I think you're normal.

Surgery JAN. 19th, 2012 - Down 120 lbs & 75 inches @ my last Weigh in!!!!
on 2/3/12 9:51 am - Canada
I hit a dramatic drop in energy in week 3, and in my case the clinic suggested I start supplementing my iron. Again, in my case, this made a big difference in a matter of days.
I do think that the surgery takes a great deal out of us, and that we don't notice it so much until the pain is under control and the routine becomes more familiar; but I also think it can be a physical reaction.
Maybe contacting your nutritionist would be a good idea.
