I had a rough weekend, and I'm probably going to blog about it later to get it out of my head.,..but here are some cool NSV's...(I just wanna stay positive.)

**Almost every time my baby hugs me, he says "OMG, you are so much smaller...I can totally see it".... and I love to hear that, every single time.

**In the mirror, I can see that my double chin is gone...Amen. Hallelujah!

**Another MAJOR NSV for both of us, I have stopped snoring.... I never had sleep apnea or anything, but I snored pretty bad some times and now... nothing.. Yay!

**I've learned that if I can't smell my favourite old foods, then they don't bother me. Example, I bought Sean some bakery fresh cinnamon pinwheel cookies in the grocery store the other day (we were splitting up the list to get out of the store quicker), and I wasn't enticed to have any of these previous faves...not in the least. When he opened the container in the car and I smelled them, i thought...yep...then I realized that would be a trigger... a red flag... the smell brings back the memory...so I quickly asked him to close the container, and I was fine. He told me that tasted like crap anyway... I think he loves cookies that taste like crap...LOL

Funny how smells bring back certain memories of certain things eh?

Boy am I glad I don't live next to or near a bakery... that would suck. I honestly think I would move.

Hi Toni

You are doing great. The NSV's are great.

Some of the smells may get better but some might never LOL, but you will be better able to deal with them as time goes on

Keep up the good work

Great NSV's, Toni!  Thanks for sharing them.

I used to have a KFC at the end of my street; no problem, as I've always found KFC disgusting.  It closed down quite a while ago and was replaced with an awesome local burger place about a month ago.  When the wind is just right, all I can smell is burgers and fries; just about kills me!  I get the smell triggers, they're really something.  I can have a loaf of fresh white bread in my house and not think about it, but when DH bakes bread (yes, my hubby bakes!) and the house smells like fresh bread, I crave like crazy.

I expect that this is one of the things that will get better with time.  When I quit drinking I craved alcohol when I was around it, and when I quit smoking the smell of cigarettes triggered cravings for about a year.  I find both really gross now.  Food will probably be the same.

Hi Toni....keep a list of these NSV - perhaps on your fridge...they will definitely help you stay on track.

I recently had my 3 month f/up @ TWH...the SW suggested I write a letter to myself.... "Why did I have this surgery"....another good way to stay on track during some of the "weaker" moments.

Keep up the great work !!!!!!!!!!!

I have reached my goal weight ..... and LOVE my RNY !!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your NSV, Toni.  You are doing great!!  I have a question for you about your snoring.  Did you have to have a sleep apnea test?  I have always been a snorer (seems to be worse now) but have no other symptoms of sleep apnea.  Wonder if I'll need the test.

Hope your week improves!

I went for a sleep study about 8 years ago, and I had no symptoms or anything relating to sleep apnea. I was just a snorer, and I found that it got worse the more weight I gained.

Toni,

Enjoyed your NSV's.  I would start to salivate just knowing I would walk by a bakery and now I don't have any taste or interest which is really strange but handy being a reformed carboholic.  I didn't drink or smoke but put a fresh bun on the table and I'd wrestle to the death for it.  LOL.

Thanks for your msg,  I have been experiencing some mood fluxuations and tired (iron depleted) so things have been more challenging emotionally .  Your support was and is appreciated.

Tracey

Smell is the strongest sense that triggers memories over any other sense.  Congrats on all the NSVs.
