OMG! This is my goal too!!! I want to be a runner. My best friend use to be overweight and she started running. I'm hoping I can run like you ! Wow! Amazing. Thank you for showing me I can do it too! Maybe next year I can run the Mississauga run with you and her!!!

How amazingly awesome!!! You deserve a HUGE congrats for even attempting it - never mind completing it!
Quick question: How heavy were you when you started running? I'm about to dip below 250 lbs and am wondering if it's still too soon to give C25K a shot.

I just checked my ticker. I started running in August and at that time I was 207 pounds. I think it depends on the individual really. A lot of it is cardiovascular fitness and that you can build up at any size, provided you have reasonably good joints (knees and hips) to support your running. It is your joints that I would be most concerned about, but you know yourself best and will soon find out if it is the right time to start. I have seen people of all sizes at my Running Room on group days. The new session of beginning runners (I overheard), were 2 weeks in and were running 1 minute, and walking one minute 10 times, for a total of 20 minutes, as of last week. Why not give that a try and see how you feel? It is really important to have someone knowledgable check your gait and fit you for proper shoes when and if you decide to keep it up, otherwise, you really could cause yourself injury.

Thanks so much for the info. Perhaps I'll wait until I lose a bit more. There are no running experts in my small town so I'll see what I can wrangle the next time I'm in the city.

Fantastic Marny! I am so impressed. You are challenging me to get to the half marathon distance.
I have been so lazy since I completed my run/walk/bike challenge, but I really miss the running. Well, I've been running on the treadmill at the gym here in Nicaragua and I figure I can get to the road when I return because if I can run in 37 degree weather it should be easy when I return at the end of the month.
