I am so happy for you. I truly know the feeling. Wait to you get on the scale and see how much weight you lost. I lost over 3 pounds doing my race last weekend.  Your body will be sore tomorrow not going to lie to you. Trying to sit on that dam toilet will not be fun. Just giving  you a heads up. I would do the half marathon. The feeling is so different when you do it in a race. Go for it.  Maybe you could help me. what do you drink while you doing your long runs. I am finding that G2 is not working for me. i am still getting leg cramps have a feeling it is not high enough in the electrolyte's.  Need to find a drink high in the eclectrolyts to help with the cramps. If you have any suggestions I love to hear thanks.  November there is a marathon in hamilton called road 2 hope maybe you would like to do it with me. Let me know

Hey there!  Thanks for the "heads up", I will very gingerly lower myself to the seat tomorrow, just to be safe.  hahaha.  I am going to do the Mississauga Half for sure (was just joking about that bit), because I want to do it with all my Running Room peeps.  i was looking at pictures of it from last year and goodness me, there are a lot of participants!  Looks exciting.  I would love to run with you in November.  How far is it?

As far as the drinking while running, this is going to sound awful, but I have yet to bring water or anything with me on a run.  99% of the time, I run in the late evening, and so I hydrate all day long and try to make sure I have my 2L in before I run.  I find it sits like a rock and sloshes around in my tummy.  I just found that gatoade has a new drink called "Restore" for after your run.  It has 16 grms of protein in it.  It does however have sugar (13 grams for the whole bottle).  I don't dump, so I do drink these.  Being quite active, it doesn't really affect my weight.

At one of the clinics, we had someone in to talk about hydration, and I asked him about the cramps I was getting in my hams, at about 16k.  I suggested that t was my electrolytes, and he said not likely.  He did suggest that I bring something to eat with me to feed my muscles as I run.  He suggested dried fruit, or those gels and blocks you can buy.  They do sell sugar free ones at the running room.  I tried them for the first time today, actually, and I found that they did really help.  The cramping didn't start till I was 20k out, and even then, it wasn't as bad a it usually is.

Sorry I couldn't be of anymore help.

The race in November is going to be 42k full marathon. You can do a half but I want to push myself at the full. Plan is 10 and 1 all the way. There is 7k that is all down hill and most of it is flat running. I would love to have you join me even if you are faster. My problem is I can not run with food in me. If I do than I start getting cramps in the stomach. I do the gels when I run found out that the blocks were causeing me to cramp and when you are running you don't want to worry about looking for a bathroom.  I am wondering if I could handle the sugars in the drinks. I guess I will have to test them out. On my last race i ended up eating breakfast at 2:30 in the morning and going back to bed. Maybe that is why i get muscles cramps because i am running with no food. I am going to have to work on it before my next big race.  By the way the race in November is for 2 great causes. One is to help out city kidz in hamilton great programs for the kids and the other cause is to help build schools for hatti. Hatti goverment does not give any money to build schools. Keep in touch and let me know how you do on the race.
