were you told not to drink from a straw?

I was told no drinking from a straw, you get too much air in.

I did use one to drink that *stuff* for a CT scan, and they said that the clinic allowed the straw for the test (only way to drink it laying down).  But I did get a lot of gas from it.  I kept getting asked if I was going to throw up (which I didn't thankfully, that stuff one way was bad enough) because I was burping so much.

Definitely take small sips with the straw if you are one that can burp a little liquid at times.

Some people have their daily coffee. I have my daily CL Froster.

I always eat mine with a spoon even though I could probably tolerate a straw (though I've been told not to during pre-op). I'm less likely to get a brain freeze that way. We have the berry one here but the green apple mango was absolutely divine!

I was also told no straws by TWH, due to taking in excess air and stretching the pouch.

I was never told no straws, but I don't really like them anyway, lol.

I was also told no straws, so I quit using them before surgery.  But the drinking cup I have at work has a lid and a straw, so I use it.  I don't have any issues with it.  I think it's all in how much air you actually swallow vs. what you take into your mouth.  I tend to hold the liquid in my mouth for a moment and 'exhale' the extra air before I swallow.  Works for me.
