I'm scared of carbs

 Brenda,
Ian is correct about carbs in fruit and veggies. Find a good food journal to help. Look for the healthier cards. You can also get low carb breads you just have to look for them. You're doing great. So happy for you

Sometimes you just put one foot in front of the other, even if you don't know where you're going.

I hear ya

I consume roughly 100g of carbs a day, a number I feel is really high. But I follow the menu given to me by my centre. The carbs are from fruits and veggies, proteins like cheese and yogurt, and from grains.

I don't want to skip out on whole grains, fruits, veggies and non-meat proteins for the sake of cutting carbs.

I was a carb junkie pre-op, and I don't have cravings for things so I'll re-evaluate if I feel a pull towards bad carbs.

I've been thinking that my life would be better without bread, rice & pasta. They're hard to break away from. I do try to limit them now, so I think that once I've had surgery it will be the time to stop them completely. I can't really see any benefit to keeping them in my diet.

It's the processed carbs that suck - the granola bars, pretzels, 100 calorie packs...etc.  Those are the ones that you have to watch.  Whole grain breads, steel cut oats, fruits and veggies - those are much more healthy.  It doesn't have to be all or nothing - but rather, better choices.

Thank you for your posts for us newbies( preop). It really great to hear that you have not had many sugar or carb cravings. I've been studying what I need to give up. Then omitting them now. I like the cucumber idea for crackers, rolled lettuce leaves and cutting a bell pepper in have and fill it with your chicken or tuna. Another big thanks to Shelly  on EggFace blog.
