New To Forums... not the site. :)
HI all my name is Donna, I live in Cambridge, Ont. I had my surgery on Jan 10/13. My journey started in late in 09, when my fam Dr. suggested WLS to me. I had kidney stones in 2010, and a few other health issues. So my first information apt at the Guelph General Hospital, Bariatric Clinic was on Dec 2011. My starting weight was 315. Optifast started on Dec 27th 12, weight 284.8, surgery day 267.5. Presently at 261.2.
I can honestly say the surgery was a cake walk, Guelph G Hospital, Dr Reed. Amazing Dr. wonderful stall and nurses all throughout.
My only issue was severe constipation which began Sunday, 13 th about 5 pm and continued through the night and day up to Monday 11pm ish. I swear I was attempting to pass a mack truck. I am sure I was in the bthroom every hour with my system attempting with no assistance on my part to empty itself of what ever remained internally. Now I have severe diarrhea, great pain I gather due to the severe issues from Sun/Mon. I am only drinking water today in the hopes that it will spell the diarrhea.
I know when I was on the Opti the surgeon advised me to drink lots of water to help the stuff through your system, I drank over 2L water every day, and never touched even a sniff of any type of food or drink. I did try the broth one day but it gave me a headache so simply did the shakes, and OMG they are so sweet... second week was a bit more tolerable lol. If this is too graphic for some I apologize.
Just wanted to know if anyone else here in my area who may be in the same part of their diet. Anyone who experienced anything similar, or who had any advice. Awesome site. :)

I can't say I never had diarrhea after my surgery only during the opti phase. However I wanted to offer my congrats on your surgery and welcome to the forum.
Hello my name is Jenny ... I live in Kitchener, Ont and I am your surgery twin January 10, 2013 I did not have a surgery that was a "cake walk" as you put it .. I had Dr Reed (he is fabulous) and I was at that hospital until this past Monday (complications because my body likes to do things its own way lol ... poor Dr Reed ... he just was beside himself ) ... I will leave out the negative comments about the one nurse at Guelph and just reply to your questions lol
I was constipated but finally got moving only because I kept sipping tha****er and tried to get as many fluids in as possible VIP you need to do it as best you can ... all that morphine and anesthetic can clog you up big time..
I admit I am not a fan of diet jello and its way to sweet for me so I went to unsweetened apple sauce with cinnamon heated up like for 50 seconds in he microwave .. its calming on the tummy and its fiber and now I am totally regular and feel a hundred times better. I have that for breakfast and in place of watered down juice for an afternoon snack.
I know that if you can get a lot of water in that is the best thing to do but perhaps try the apple sauce thing ... fiber is our friend at this point :)
Best wishes on recovery ... I would love to compare how things are going with you from now and then ... feel free to "friend me "

Ok now that I read the question again I think I am a horrible advice giver you do not need fiber lol im so sorry I had diareah for the first time today but its only once after I have my broth at lunch ... if it keeps up I would definitely call the clinic ... maybe you need to take something to stop it ... some folks get too dehydrated from it and you don't want that too happen.
Again sorry about the first reply ... I am a goof ... but hope we can stay in touch :)
