I think you look amazing either way.  I really do love the cut and the colour as well.  Do you go to the same hairdresser all the time? If so, ask his/her opinion on the going blonde; they should be able to advise if your hair is in condition for the colour change.

All the best and let us know what you decide.

I've been going to the same colourist for about a year now. She's always been very good. She said it was possible but that I'd need to follow up with a cut right away to get rid of the damaged ends.

I really like the cut it suits you.  The blonde colour suits you too.  I agree about the roots needing a lot of upkeep.  Is your natural hair colour an option.  Any chemicals we use on our hair weakens it and bleach is the worst.  Could you colour your hair close to your natural colour and let the red grow out/  I love your make up, it is very natural looking but it still pops.  I really like the funky cut and it would still look stunning in whatever colour you choose to use.

He he...I'll have to write the creators of the app that allowed me to computer generate all of that beautiful makeup!  LOL. My natural hair colour is a very ashy brown and I have never loved it.  It always felt dull, and never glossy or shiny, which is, I think one of the things that pulls me to hair dye.

I know exactly what you mean about hair texture changing after surgery. Mine is much more drier than it has ever been. I have been colouring my hair forever so it is not that. Also about the long hair...so many women just seem to be able to throw it in a pony and it looks great, I always seem to have these little strands sticking up and out!

The cut I like, I'm not afraid of going short, I had short boy cut for years. The blond I am not so sure of, at least not that particular shade. Blond is hard to get right if it is not your natural colour and I think you'd need a professional colourist to give you the right shade and highlights. You'd have to be going back like every 6-8 weeks for root touch ups to the salon, I'm thinking more of the expense than anything else but if you've got the $$ for it then go for it!! I think everyone should try out being blond at least once in their life!

I like short hair.  It's sassy!  ;)

I would def. go to my colourist to do this.  I agree about the colour being not quite right.  I want blonde, but maybe some lowlights too.  I want a natural looking blonde, not white-blonde.

Hi Marnie,

I love the blond look. I have always been blonde (we have more fun didnt you know?) but since I got older (going to be 60 this year) the colour went to a dirty blonde so I started getting it coloured with a 40 volume to get rid of my natural red tones. My hairdresser uses swartzkoph (sp?) and it always works well. I recently wanted a change so I asked her to add two red streaks. A little wild for my age but I love it. My hair doesnt grow that fast so I only need the roots redone about every 2-3 months. I am 20 months post op. I used to have shoulder length blond hair but cut it short post op to prepare for the hair loss. I love it short. So much easier to look after especially in the summer. Change is great for the soul. You look fabulous.

awhhh, thanks Katie. I didnt mean to hijack Marnie"s post but thought you guys might like to see the red blond look. If I was a full natural red I would have tried big chunky long blond streaks. It is wonderful what weight loss surgery does for the self esteem. Such a blessing.
