Question about coffee
I can't stand aspartame. It leaves a bad aftertaste in the coffee.
Can you put one teaspoon of sugar into a large coffee? Or is there a better sweetener I can try????
I use real sugar in my coffee. According to MyFitnessPal my morning coffee costs me 40 cals 1 gram of fat and 9 grams of sugar. I LOVE - I mean LURVE my coffee and I'm willing to let go of those 40 calories for the sake of that love. I am also 9 months out.
So if you're looking for a thumbs up - here's 2!!
Try Splenda's "No Calorie Sweetener". No calories, no fat, no protein, with 1g sugar, 1g carb per stick. I use a tasty French Vanilla flavour that's just great for picking up blah protein shakes as well. Each box comes with 30 sticks. It's not aspartame.

I use Splenda as well. A lot of people find after surgery that their tastes change, and when they start playing around with sweetners, they end up liking one they didn't like before. Splenda is my go-to and I can't stand other kinds. I had to use Sweet n' Low in my coffee on the weekend and I never finished it...gross.
I don't recommend trying real sugar. Everyone has different tolerances, yes, and here's mine. I can't seem to have much liquid sugar. Meaning, sugar in my coffee.....sugar more than 5 grams in yogurt. The liquid seems to do something to me. My biggest dumping episode was at 9 months out....I had an easter creme egg (lots of liquid sugar), followed by a full glass of milk (natural sugar, but sugar none-the-less....and I pushed it through). Most horrible four hours!!
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
I tried Stevia extract, bought at Trader Joe's, and the opinion of my taste buds (your mileage may vary) is that it sweetens hot beverages poorly. I have to add what seems like copious amounts to get the desired sweetness, at which point it tastes funny to me. I went right back to Splenda. Or in some cases, real sugar, in moderation, and no regularly.
I have used Splenda since my sugery..and why you ask..because in my mind...(for myself) if you allow yourself (1) teaspoon, you soon become accustomed back to the taste of sweetness and if you aren't a label reader yet...sugar and sugar alcohol levels are in everything
..did you know that there is even sugar in potato chips~!!!
