Good morning gang. Way to get back in your groove CC! Exercise seems to boost energy as long as we can get our butts in gear :) Work has been a spinning wheel that isn't slowing down, so that why I haven't been on to post everyday.

QOTD: Kayaking sounds fun but I'm not ready for that yet, I'd tip the thing several times I'm sure. My summer plan is to take long walks each day and hit some hiking trails at a few Provincial parks. I'd also like to tackle my back yard (redo deck, firepit, gardens, plant perimeter trees) but I doubt I'll get all of that accomplished in one season.

B - greek yogurt, blueberries

S - boiled egg

L - leftover Swiss Chalet chicken & sauce

S - 1/2 protein shake

D - salad with leftover chicken, parm

S - 1/2 protein shake

(MMmmm I need to make those portobello mushrooms with toppings on the grill once rain lets up- nice idea CC)

Hi Grayer,

I went through Windsor and greatmum has pretty much covered it. I did bring my mom to this surgery class since she was the one going to TO with me for my surgery and other people had guests also. They will give you which hospital your scheduled for or possibly let you choose your preference but you won't know which surgeon until the hospital calls you. I think my meet the surgeon teleconference was a couple months later and I also brought my mom to that appointment which didn't seem to be an issue.

Things will go quick, keep to everything they have told you along the way and keep contact here.

Best of luck! ;) very exciting

Good morning everyone. Yesterday was really good and I got in all of my exercise. It felt good, it felt normal. Actually I had more energy after the workouts than I have had in a while. Today I will go swimming and then to the gym, but a little later today because I have to get something done for Dad this morning. That's just 2 choices to get closer to my goal.

Tonight DH and I are going out for date night, dinner and to listen to live music.

QOTD: Tell me a happy vision of what your ideal summer could be this year? For me, I would like to get my kayak in the water. I want to explore all of the little inlets where I will be going kayaking. There are egrets and swans and I have to learn how to make them ignore me and not attack (that would not be part of my happy vision, but it would crack up my husband) I want people to say -she's in good shape for her age.

The eats today at 4 years 9 months post-op are:

B. Decaf coffee, iced protein coffee during my gym workout

L. Leftover spicy sausage stuffed Portobellos topped with melted spicy cheese. Small salad

D. Shrimp Caprese salad.

S. Nighty Night tea

Have a great day everyone.

Well it's been about a year but if I remember correctly here what happens. For starters you get to find out which hospital you will be sent too. The only choice our class had was between the 2 hospitals in Toronto as the waiting lists were long at the other locations.

I don't think we could bring a guest but I'm not entirely sure on that.

The class is just basically a recap of what is going to happen. After the class it took about 2 weeks before they contacted me with my meet the surgeon appt.

good luck

You might not like water for a while after surgery. It gave me a pain for a good year unless I added some flavour enhancer like Mio. Something about the specific gravity of plain water. 2 years out I enjoy it again but it took a while. YMMV of course.

It's always great to find some deals at VV. Some of the things that I have found there are nicer than items I bought new in the store.

I am with you on your goal. We can do this. One choice at a time we will knock off those small goals. Today was a win. I did, swimming, yoga and the gym. Feels great. Tomorrow I start all over again.

My surgeon said the same thing. I made it clear I wanted RNY and he said that he would see when he got in there whether he could do RNY safetly. I signed a consent for the sleeve with possible RNY. My BMI was 63. They generally don't like to do RNY in my region over a BMI of 60. I did optifast for 1 month and I guess I was able to shrink my liver enough because I woke up with a RNY. He said it was tricky but he did it and I was thrilled. That aside, I would have still did the sleeve as he explained that you can revised to RNY if you don't get the results with sleeve. However, many people have been very successful with the sleeve also and I was going for it either way. I wish you all the best whatever you decide.

How long after this do I meet the surgeon? Can I bring anyone to this appointment? Guys Im getting so excited and nervous, I can see the finish line.

From what I can ascertain, your surgery is not postponed, but rather to continue but with the sleeve rather than the RNY? Is that correct? I know during the various appointments I have had, they clearly indicated that there are occasions when the surgeons will determine one surgery is preferable to the other, based on the patient's medical history and issues (and sometimes patient preference as I know several people who opted for the sleeve versus the RNY). At my nutrition appointment a few weeks ago, the nutritionist indicated that sometimes what happens is they do one surgery, once that is done and over with and the patient progresses losing weight etc, then the other one is done. So if the surgeon is saying he feels your health won't allow for the RNY at this juncture, it most likely doesn't mean "never" - and I would seriously listen to his expertise. My sister had the sleeve and lost 50 lbs in six months! My understanding is the sleeve also suppresses hunger hormones to a certain extent; and the smaller pouch makes it uncomfortable to eat big portions. As a type 2 diabetic myself, I know that even relatively small losses can impact the numbers - for the better. So it is of course your choice and a good idea to revisit with the surgeon, but this doesn't sound like a bad first step. By the time you've lost some weight (due to sleeve working)- you can perhaps look down the road at the RNY - something to discuss with your surgeon.
