keto flu! Google it. It happens when your body goes into ketosis.
It will pass. The first several days are the worst. On day two I was dry heaving, nauseous, had a blinding headache and was terribly concerned that I was not going to get through the Opti phase.
I took some gravol, drank water and only got 2 shakes in that day. By later that night I was feeling better and then by day 3 it was gone. I started putting peppermint extract into my shakes to help with my stomach. I found it helped.
When you are in ketosis bad breath is very much in evidence. I took a tooth brush and tooth paste to work with me and brushed and rinsed multiple times a day. It helped. I also had a bottle of mouthwash in my purse that I could pull out during the day to keep things fresh.

I started losing 3 months after surgery and continue to lose. I've been blessed with an incredibly thick head of hair so no one is really noticing however I notice. I now have hair regrowth so things are a bit untidy with short hairs sticking out all over the place but it is growing back.
I tried biotin supplements, biotin shampoos, made sure I was getting all my protein, but nothing helped.

Hello everyone. On my third day. Had a headache the first day but it's now gone replaced with a lil bit of nausea but nothing overwhelming. Today my mouth is really dry despite drinking tons of water and my lips have a sticky feel and my mouth smells weird. Did anyone get this same symptoms? And is there a reason?
I did not experience hair loss with my surgery. I lost lots on the Dr B diet and on other low calorie diets so... I Think the vitamins and the protein on the diet prescribed to us certainly helped me.

Nothing can be done to prevent hair loss. It's a side effect of the anesthetic. If you do a search you will read lots of information but no tried and true prevention for the loss.
Having said that, some people experience it worse than others.
I have lost a lot of hair since surgery. That being said I had extremely think hair and am enjoying the thinner locks. I am 6 months out and the hair loss is slowing. The biggest key is to get your protein my nutritionist said hair loss can be bad if you are not hitting your protein goals.
CC, I hope you feel better soon!! You can't be sick and have to deal with this shockingly cold weather.
We/they accepted a conditional offer on the house so now we are going crazy trying to get our house in shape to go up for sale next week. Eeee. So you will find me here, having a nap lol. And later I will be patching holes in our kitchen so we can paint.
The topic of hair loss is mentioned every now and then but never really in depth. I am pre surgery and I am wondering how many of you have actually dealt with hair loss? Is this something everyone deals with? How bad is it and what can you do about it? Is there any way to prevent it?
Hope you feel better soon CC. This weather sure doesn't help.
Good morning everyone. I am feeling pretty rough. I picked up a flu bug while travelling and just woke up after going to sleep last night at 8. Truthfully I could go back to bed and sleep some more, lol.
The menu today is going to be lots of fluids - broth, decaf, tea, crio bru.
Have a great day everyone.
