I did not experience hair loss with my surgery. I lost lots on the Dr B diet and on other low calorie diets so... I Think the vitamins and the protein on the diet prescribed to us certainly helped me.

Nothing can be done to prevent hair loss. It's a side effect of the anesthetic. If you do a search you will read lots of information but no tried and true prevention for the loss.
Having said that, some people experience it worse than others.
I have lost a lot of hair since surgery. That being said I had extremely think hair and am enjoying the thinner locks. I am 6 months out and the hair loss is slowing. The biggest key is to get your protein my nutritionist said hair loss can be bad if you are not hitting your protein goals.
CC, I hope you feel better soon!! You can't be sick and have to deal with this shockingly cold weather.
We/they accepted a conditional offer on the house so now we are going crazy trying to get our house in shape to go up for sale next week. Eeee. So you will find me here, having a nap lol. And later I will be patching holes in our kitchen so we can paint.
The topic of hair loss is mentioned every now and then but never really in depth. I am pre surgery and I am wondering how many of you have actually dealt with hair loss? Is this something everyone deals with? How bad is it and what can you do about it? Is there any way to prevent it?
Hope you feel better soon CC. This weather sure doesn't help.
Good morning everyone. I am feeling pretty rough. I picked up a flu bug while travelling and just woke up after going to sleep last night at 8. Truthfully I could go back to bed and sleep some more, lol.
The menu today is going to be lots of fluids - broth, decaf, tea, crio bru.
Have a great day everyone.

I agree on not stocking up on any protein powder - get the smallest sample you can get to test them after surgery. I went to Popeye's and they gave me a few samples to try. I ended up with a few huge bottles of unused Protein powder because I couldn't gag them down after surgery. The Bulk Barn protein is good because you can buy a reasonable small amount at first to test it. Maybe if you go to a bariatic support meeting, you could ask other people to bring you a sample of their favorite protein powder?
That sucks Ginny. I hope that can make it feel better soon. It's hard to get a good night's sleep if you are in pain.
They said that I sheared my knee and that it will probably keep happening. Don't really want to get a replacement because I'm afraid it will hinder my workouts.
You are wise to think it is ligaments etc.
