Good morning foodie friends. Since I don't see any posts yet, I figured I'd get things started for the day.
QOTD: What are your best "coping with winter/cold" secrets? Since I don't get to go south like C.C. I think my favorite things are getting the fireplace going and smelling wood burning,,,,,,, soo cozy! I make lots of soups and stews. Hoodies and slippers are my go-to's for clothing but I think burning candles that smell like the beach, or umbrella drinks my favorite trick.

Wow Quite the milestone and well done gurl! I am just over a year behind you as I had my surgery the end of November so I'm very excited to see what things will look like a year out.
Keep up the great work and the newbies like me will be watching for advice from "veteran's" like you ![]()
A BIG congrats on the progress a year out!

Thank you Sweetride, the support is amazing. You started at the same weight as me too. I think my age might be a factor as I'm almost 62 but my body has always been a tough nut to crack!

Referred January 7/17, Orientation Humber May 28/17, Meet Dr. August 4/17, TRIO November 3/17, Internist November 21/17, Surgeon again December 21/17, Pre-op assessment January 4/18 and Surgery January 12/18.
Congrats! One year seems to have flown by. You are right...the whole thing around comparison being the thief of joy...you can't compare yourself or it takes away from your amazing accomplishments! Everybody loses at different paces and different places - look at how far you've come, that's the best comparison! Enjoy the rest of your journey :)

Hi Lucille,
Where did you have your surgery? I'm a member of a FB Group that is all about WLS patients from St. Joseph's in Hamilton. It's very active and lots of talk about Plastics after WLS with a lot of recommendations.
Perhaps, depending on where you had your surgery there would be a similar FB group that you could join that could help you out.
I'm planning on plastic surgery next year for skin removal, tummy tuck and some liposuction. I've heard about a Dr. Harris in Burlington who specializes in WLS patients and then someone in Welland. There's also a female Doctor in Scarborough that a lot of people talk about.
Typically they don't want to do any plastics until a year after you've hit goal so your body has time to settle and you are maintaining. I don't know about liposuction though.
Hope this gives you a direction to try and get answers.

I could have had a private room but again, one wasn't available. I had semi private.
I think you can do pretty much what you like these days so long as your visitors aren't causing trouble. Your roommate may object though.
I had great nurses too. They were awesome.

Congratulations!
I didn't realize that you and I had our surgeries so close together. My surgiversay is the 16th. I have my one year check up tomorrow. I was probably so preoccupied with myself that I wasn't paying attention. My bad....
I agree Leslie, comparing yourself to others is just not a good way to go. We all lose differently and our bodies are our own. It's almost a recipe for disaster to start doing that kind of stuff. The other thing is that everybody has different challenges in their lives that can cause weight loss to either slow down or speed up. Own your own journey. :)
The support here has been very good and that's why I'm still checking in. I keep learning about this journey and now that I'm at a different stage in my life I come here to learn the next steps and hear what the veterans have to say.
Keep at it and Good Luck!
