Hi Angie,

So funny, you and I both have the same timeline! I also started opti yesterday and am scheduled for surgery on the 15th as well.

Opti has been fine so far, I don't mind the taste. I have been a big protein shake drinker over the years, so I feel that I'm quite use to the synthetic taste of these types of shakes.

All the best for the surgery. Also, if you're up for it, I would love to keep in touch over the course of our journeys.

Good morning and happy new year!!

I can't decide if I want to go to Walmart today... We are trying a spending freeze-ish for January and if I really think about it I don't need what I want to get there.

Ginnny, I'm jealous of your hair appointment... I could just go for the shampoo and scalp massage lol. That's my favourite part.

Post-op three years and nine months.

Breakfast 1 - melba and PB

Breakfast 2 - protein shake

Snack - Greek yogurt and banana

Lunch - chicken and rice

Snack - pepperette and cheese

Dinner - cabbage and sausage

Snack - pudding, mixed nuts

All water and vits.

Happy New Year Gang, is everybody ready to get back on the horse and do up 2019 fabulously? I am. Went to the gym this morning even though my morning didn't start great. I got a new phone in early December and I realized over the holidays it was syncing with my Garmin Index Scale. I did some investigation this morning but will have to get it figured out tonight. I like to see the trends.

Hair appointment tonight and I'm thinking of really changing it up. New year, new look!! We'll see, will let you know tomorrow if I went through with it. My hair isn't super long right now anyway, but it is curly so we'll see if their is anything she can do with it. My some bold color!

Post Op 2 yrs 8+ mos

B - 1/2 everything bagel, 1 egg, 1 slice cheese

S - chicken breast

L - spring mix salad with chicken breast

S - deli turkey, cucumbers

D - bunless cheeseburger.

Have a wonderful day today!!

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!

Thank you! Three opti shakes in and I would have to agree. They're not bad at all. I didn't know what to expect after reading in a couple of FB groups how some people really disliked them, especially the vanilla. That was the first one I tried this morning and actually liked it. Ah well.. everyone has different tastes :-)

Happy New Year!

This is the first day of the new year, yes, but it's also day one for me of my two week optifast diet prior to surgery on the 15th. Day one of getting my life back, of becoming a healthier me.

Thankfully I have a very busy job, and I know the next 2 weeks will fly by, and surgery day will be here before I know it. Then the real work begins. But, I will take it all one day at a time, and with the help, support and knowledge that is in abundance here in this forum and all of OH, I can do nothing but succeed!

I wish you all a safe and Happy New Year, full of love, health and happiness .

Angie

Topic: RE: Anyone else afraid?

I have an anxiety disorder and panic attacks and my medication and mental health was one of the first things I addressed as I looked into surgery. I have worked with my doctor and bariatric NP and have adjusted my meds to something I can take long term after surgery and the anesthesiologist has also prescribed me extra anxiety medication for the day before and day of surgery. I cannot stress enough how supportive my "team" has been. I have also been told so many great stories of people with horrible anxiety issues getting so much better after having wls and gaining self esteem back!
If you think you will need some medication then I would just ask! Be honest and I am sure they will do anything they can to make you feel better!!

I can totally relate. My surgery is scheduled for January 18th in Toronto (My youngest daughters 11th birthday) and I am also on day 4 of optifast (and feeling super crappy) and I am wondering if I am making the biggest mistake of my life ... I know I am not and that this super scary time will pass and I cannot wait to be on the other side of this - on the losers bench as I have seen some call it. But it is scary. We hear the worst in the news and online because they like to sensationalize everything but the reality is this is a safe, proven and effective way to lose weight and become healthier than we would be staying the course were all on! I don't know if I would ever classify myself as "ready" as I'm sure there's always going to be something that we could have or should have done but as long as you are following your doctors plan and have met all the criteria and are learning and practicing new ways to deal with stress and all the emotions that come along with such a big life change then you will be just fine!
No one said it would be easy but I'm sure it will be worth it!
Good luck! I hope you post updates as I'll be following to see how you're doing!!
