Wrinkles?

Penny, I have some wrinkles but nothing much. I know that the sagging skin is bad in my legs and the "girls" but no one sees that but me and Bill. As long as it doesn't bother him I don't care. I am 55 years old and hey....we all age sometime..I just want to do it gracefully.

I had a tummy tuck but with a hernia surgery. I thought if the insurance approved it why not. Now I can see my feet...something that I never did before.

I have a turkey neck now and my grandson grabbed it when he was about 3 weeks old and I told him that he was the only person in the whole wide world that Grandma would let hang on to her turkey neck. ha ha  That is going in the journal that I am keeping for him. The journal is just for him and I...and has special little stories in it about us.

I am proud to be 55 years young and with my new wonderful and healthy life nothing is going to stop me from doing what I want. I will go...wrinkles and all!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Thank you all for your replies. Suzette, I think the wig would work for me too. Lightswitch, I look forward to getting definition in my face and in my collar bones. Brenda, I love the idea of a granchild journal. I wish I had thought of that. I have 12 grandchildren so it might turn out to be a fulltime job for me! I want most of all to regain my health out of this process. I know that is what is important in life. I know without my health it doesn't matter what I look like. I would be worm food in a matter of a few years.
Thanks again,
Penny

Penny,
Oh the thoughts that go through our minds. Getting wrinkles never entered my silly brain. Yup, I got 'em and don't care one bit. (okay, most of the time I don't care )

When I was 320 pounds, the skin was stretched so tightly, no wrinkles could appear. Wearing a size 4 with a few wrinkles is much better in my opinion. Plus about a million other health benefits.

We understand and that was not a vain question.

Went from a size 28 to size 6/8, I exercise and I have wrinkles. I'm 53.
Now of course we will all have wrinkles, the question is to what degree. Genetics plays in here too. I don't smoke, I do have some facial wrinkles, but heck I'm 53. Do I look it? Yes, I do believe I look my age and I will continue to age gracefully. No plastics in my future. I have embraced me and love me, I'm kind to myself, never critical. I have "angel wings" and I'm wearing a sleeveless top today. I have shar-pai thighs and I wear a bathing suit in public. I guess I'm very comfortable about my body. Skinny people have body issues too. Don't you believe for a second that they are 100% happy with their body.

So you are not being vain, you are being human.
If you are worried about wrinkles, start saving money for plastics today. If you can accept yourself with wrinkles then you will be okay.

Now...other issues to consider: Boobies...(I miss my boobies!!) Get a good support bra after you are done losing weight.
Thighs: if you carry a lot of weight in your legs, be prepared of the shar-pai look
Belly: a good support panty will help you, I'm cheap, wear the Cupids from Wal-Mart (I don't like Spanx, overpriced and a costly pantyhose substitute)

I am 57.  When I decided on WLS, I was worried about the same thing.  I bought a good facial moisturizer (Lancome) and made sure to use it in the morning and before bed.  I also bought the Gold Bond brand CQ 10 restore moisturizer at Walgreens to use on the rest of my body and have tried to be faithful using both.  I do not have more facial wrinkles even though my face is much thinner.  I do have loose skin in stomach, arms and thighs; however, I have less on my stomach than I thought I would.  I  don't know how much the moisturizers helped, but I thought it was worth a shot.

Hi Penny,
I lost about 120 pounds- and I actually look younger than before. My neck shows my age (55) the most, but it's not bad. I lost a lot of hair but my hairdresser said that I had a normal amount after I lost it- so it still looked fine. My thick hair is back now. My thighs are wrinkly and I have a tummy roll. But even with the skin changes, the loss of weight has improved my looks much more than it has hurt them. I'm happy with the changes.

Oh, yeah, I've got wrinkles, but I lost my 180 pounds kinda slowly (over 3 years, the first year I lost the bulk of my bulk, then the rest of it over the last two years). So in the last two years, some of the wrinkles filled in. I like to say my wrinkles are caused by reporters writing stories that don't make sense or are too long, or by our crappy computer system (she says as she hopes it doesn't crash on her again).

I thought of getting a panni removal (all insurance would cover) a few years ago, had a consult, then decided to get my knee replaced instead. After that, I had to have the knee replacement revised, so now I don't want any more surgery of any kind because I've had enough pain. I'm OK with the way I am. A bra holds up my sagging boobs and clothes cover the rest ... and no one really sees any of it but me and the cats, and they don't care (or at least they never complained ... meow?) My mom actually said I look younger than I did before the surgery, but then she said I always had a young-looking face.

It's a great journey you're embarking on ... jump on and enjoy the ride.

back in the day when I had my surgery, we didn't even consider things like that, we just considered the health aspects.

Hi Penny,

I am 52. Before my surgery I often had people say that they were shocked when they found out how old I was, many thought I was around 35. Not so much now...but I am happy with the trade off. I had no wrinkles before and I think it's not so much I have a wrinkly face now but just not a round baby face anymore.

I too miss my boobalas. Now I just have boobalettes. I have the sharpei thigh thing goin on too and like a flying squirrel, I could glide from tree to tree to get to work. BUT...I DON'T CARE! I love my smaller normal body.

My hair thinned also and that didn't look so hot but it's mostly back now...I think it all was and is well worth it.

Good luck...you will do great and look just fab...

Cheryl
