My pre-op appointment for my arm-lift and BL with implants is this Friday!
Surgery is scheduled for 21st of this month and my thoughts are all over the place. Normally in the past my pre-surgery thoughts have been mainly about surviving the anesthesia and ensuing migraines. I've had awful experiences with anesthesia and the migraines were curtesy of my Diet Coke addiction. I've been free from Diet Coke since 2010 and all carbonation is my RNY surgery 09/21/2011.
Anybody? The pain? The scarring? Open sores? Porn star boobs? The PS I've chosen has assured me I won't but....maybe it's because this is elective surgery? I don't know, just simply wired. I'll take photos tomorrow.
Wow, makes me wish I had scheduled surgery when I lived there.
I had my RNY in September of 2011 and I'm just now getting around to having surgery.
I'm agree with the others on waiting, give your body a rest. I understand the desire to lump the recovery time together. My GBP surgeon had a seminar on the effects of surgery especially the anesthesia.
I had a tummy tuck when my triplets were 18 months old. A friends husband noticed my stomach one day and said doing 500 stomach crunches isn't going to help that. He was a plastic surgeon. I had a separating in my stomach muscles from my first pregnancy.
I too had a lapro hysterectomy;endometriosis, and recovering from that surgery was awful. I believe because I felt so much better, I just brushed off the surgical pain. If you're a fellow sufferer of endometriosis, you know what I'm talking about. I have a high tolerance for pain below the neck, above the neck I'm a whiny, twitchy mess.
I can't speak to the LBL, BR, BL & small thigh lift, so I'll leave that to the others. Then again, I am have the arm lift and BL w/implants, so I'll let you know how that goes.
Thank you so much for that awesome list!
I've started my usual pre-surgery cleaning-with-a-toothbrush routine.
I'm going to spend this week getting everything done and trying to formulate my plans to cover A-Z to AAA plans. Little crazy about the list making.
My brain has already drifted over to the what-if-this happens etc....
Do the hysterectomy and let your body heal completely before you have plastics. Take care of your health first. My mom did not and now it is too late for a hysterectomy for her (late stage uterine cancer).

That was wise. Achy tends to mean "recovering," and your muscles need time to recover before you break them down again.

Thanks for your thoughts Gwen. I admit that I've been working my core pretty hard. I skipped the abs on my workout Monday just because they were achy already and I thought...give them a break!

I'm over a year post-op from my LBL and I still have to take it easy on my ab work sometimes. I do a lot of mat pilates, which is all core work, and my abs still feel painfully tight sometimes.
You might be doing too much, too soon. You might want to scale back in intensity or duration.

Morning folks. I had an abdominoplasty and mastopexy on May 18. Since I was released for full exercise by my PS (about 6 weeks ago), I have been including ab work in my workouts, planks, different crunches, etc. I usually do strength and ab work 3 days a week. I'm finding that sometimes after a workout that for several hours or even the next morning I am having aching and spasms in my upper abs where the muscles were tightened.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks!

I had a hysterectomy in February of this year. Because my fibroids were very large, they had to do an open procedure with a horizontal bikini cut. While I know of people who even have the PS done at the same time as they have the hysterectomy, I would really advise against it.
It took a long time for my abdomen to heal from the hysterectomy and having my abdominoplasty (plus BL) in May, I now believe was too soon. Both procedures cause abdominal swelling (swelly belly) for months after the procedure and having them so close together has made it hard for everything to heal and flatten out. The PS used the same lateral cut from the hysterectomy so that was okay, but both surgeries, even if the hysterectomy isn't open or complete, are very hard on your body and probably will lead to problems with healing properly.
I know how disappointing it is to have to delay the PS but give your body a break so that it can do it's job.
