Hi folks,
I am 8 days postop from an extended mastopexy and extended abdominoplasty and am healing well. The PS put in 4 drains, L & R breast and L & R abdomen. The L breast came out at 3 days and the R breast and ab at 6 days. He wants to leave the last drain in until day 13 even though there isn't much drainage unless I am on my feet alot. I'm happy to be safe and prevent aromas!
Since I moved from sleeping in my recliner back into bed 2 days ago, I am waking with aching to sharp pain at the site of my remaining L ab drain. I usually fall asleep curled on my left side (preop) so it may be that I am turning that way in my sleep. Is it going to injure the site? The skin is pink but not infected, draining, bleeding, etc. just sore.
Any thoughts? Should I be more concerned and call my doctor?
Thanks!

"The thing that bothers me about that show is how down the people are about themselves and how much they let the skin limit their lives. I considered mine unsightly but wouldn?t use the word disgusting, and too jiggly for running, but otherwise a byproduct of my hard work. It didn?t change how I felt about myself as a person and I feel good about who I am. I worry that they will all be disappointed long term in their result because their dislike of themselves is so much more than skin deep. Maybe the show just makes them play that stuff up and they are willing to do it to get their surgery paid for, but it really bugs me."
I agree 100%.

My excess skin from my LBL and thigh lift this month weighed 11.1 pounds. And that was after lipo-ing out fat to put back into my rear. I had a lot of stubborn fat tissue attached to my main roll. I look pretty small now. Some people have very little fat attached to the skin and therefore their removal weight is low.

That switched to the past tense afterward for me... "What did I do? This was so expensive (and frustrating to recover from) did I really need this? Why did I want this again?" I think after my healing gets to the point that I feel more like myself and I can focus on my results, all those questions will have positive answers. This middle bit just sucks for me. You might be like the super healers though who seem to have an easy time of it and are back on the horse in no time!
Also, if you get some extra back muscles it will help. I didn't imagine how bad the back pain would be from having to stay hunched over. It's a funny story- the morning after my surgery when I went to see my surgeon for my follow up he and the nurse were surprised that I had make-up on and hair sort of done and proudly I said "I even tried to stand up pretty straight when I was putting on my make-up" and my surgeon freaked out and told me that I should NOT be doing that.
