I have a wedge that I got when I had my RNY but I'm going to price a recliner to be sure. My wife who would be there at least some of the time (nights particularly) has fibro and back problems so I don't want to be totally dependent on her doing too much lifting.

HW: 248+, SW (RNY: 2/28/17): 244, GW (10/17): 125; LW: 115; 45# regain (19-20); CW: 135.6; new goal: 135; Plastics: Ext mastopexy, Ext abdominoplasty-5/18/2018; diagnosed w/ gastroparesis 11/20.
Yeah, after my RNY (when I was lucid) I got zero sleep...after my LBL and BL, I can't even remember so I assume I was doped up and sleeping!
I didn't need a recliner - I had a large wedge foam pillow that I got on Amazon and my mom (who was staying with me for 5 days after) would circle her arms around me to lift me up if I needed to get out of bed, or help me lay down. The only pain was that darn abdominal muscle tightening!

I believe in trusting red flags and gut feelings! Sometimes the sum of the parts tells you all you need to know.
My surgery is in 18 days. Eek! Luckily, I'm not working right now so I can just take my time recovering. Which is good, because it's hard to get a sense of how long I'll be out of commission.
Good point! They certainly have more control of the staffing and procedures in their own facility. I was thinking of one surgeon in our area who has his own surgery center but I could find no information on his website, RealSelf or elsewhere online that he had privileges at any of the local hospitals that do plastics. That was a big red flag to me and I didn't bother calling for an appointment.
BTW, when is your surgery coming up? Soon isn't it? How long are you planning to be off work?

All of the surgeons I looked at did surgery at a surgery center. I wouldn't make any assumptions about what that means. My surgeon uses a surgery center and has operated at the same one for over 15 years because he trusts his team there and doesn't want to change that. He also has privileges at many top hospitals, so I think it's a team/business decision and definitely not a certification problem.
The recovery center I'm going to after is across the street from a great hospital, but hopefully I won't need their services!
I traveled to Monterrey Mexico and Dr Sauceda for all my PS. His speciality is WLS patients. I had the works done and am very happy with my results. I even went back in 2013 for an upper body lift.
Dr Sauceda will be Las Vegas in August and will be available for consults on 3rd and 4th.

Hey all, it has been a while since I have been active in these forums...but the time has come for a panniculectomy and the date has been set for July.
I had my consult and this is only to remove the excess skin, they will not tighten muscles (insurance wont cover). My question is for those of you that had this procedure done... what made your recovery easier OR what do you wish you knew about recovery that you learned after the fact. Thanks!
My only hesitation in staying in the hospital is that I know I don't get any sleep there with the regular checks and other noise. But I am also worried about being mobile post-op, post-anesthesia and having staff to help me at first will be just fine.
BTW did you have a power-assist recliner when you got home? I am thinking of renting one for the first week or so to help getting up and down.

I stayed one night at Sibley after my lower body lift/breast lift combo procedure. I mean, after being under anesthesia for like 11 hours and then being on pain meds, you won't want to go home, you will just lay there in a haze :) When I had my arm lift, I went home the same day.
Good luck choosing the best doctor for you! As you know, I have nothing but love for Dr. M :) My scars are incredible thanks to his OCD stitching techniques :)
