No, insurance did not cover my breast lift. My plastic surgeon said insurance will only pay if a certain amount of fat/tissue is removed (as in a reduction). Perhaps if you have a history of documented skin infections and treatments due to the excess skin you may have better luck.

I'm not ignoring you - i just don't know of anyone who's had insurance cover it in this particular cir****tance. I know people who've had masectomies and insurance covered their reconstruction - and I've known people (non-WLS people) who've had insurance cover breast reduction surgeries because the weight of their breasts was causing them a lot of back and/or shoulder pain, but that's it. It'd be unusual for insurance to cover something like this unless it's causing some kind of medical problem. If it is causing problems, then make sure you have a strong paper trail from your doctor - maybe they can make a case for you.

I've lost more than 250 pounds, and my breasts are just bags of skin and glandular tissue.

I'm going for a plastics consult next month.

Has anyone successfully had breast work done where insurance covered it?

I did the LBL and arm lift in November and in 1 month will be doing a thigh lift and breast lift with augmentation.
I'm very pleased with how the first surgery went!
Yes Dr Fisher is retiring, he was to retire this year. I believe he has pushed it out a few months due to the covid 19 shut down as several surgeries had to get pushed back.

Thank you for telling me about Dr Fisher btw. I did end up going with him and he did a fantastic job on my LBL.

Another VERY good point. I am adding this to my list!

Ooh, that is a really good point. I will really look at that key point.

I unfortunately didn't ask how much was removed, but I was down about 4 lbs after surgery - which I put back on fairly quickly. He did do some lipo for contouring but said there wasn't much fat there - it was mostly skin.

when you look at pictures, be sure to notice belly buttons. Those are supposedly pretty challenging to get right - so if the surgeon has a lot of pictures with weird-looking belly buttons, you may want to move on to someone else. If they look natural, that's one sign of a skilled plastic surgeon.
