Stall in weight loss
Since my surgery on 3/15/2011 I have lost 33lbs. Last Thursday at my follow-up I was told I could go on a regular diet. So I started eating more solid (chopped) foods but still in the very small portions. Since then my weight has flucuated(sp) between 294 and 297. Usually 294 in the morning and 297 by the afternoon and then back down the next morning. (yes, I weigh myseld everyday)!!
Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this? Am I doing something wrong? Any advice?
-thanks in advance!!

I had my surgery 3/22 and lost 20lbs and yes i am the same way in the morning im down when i go to bed in up...and yes me 2 i get on the scale twice a day...so after 2wks they said u can start solid foods, not a puree diet or anything...just 2 wks of full liquids and the straight to solid...WOW...you must have a great surgeon...I was told2wks out was to early for solid food intake that your pouch was still healing...but congrats on eating solid foods i cant wait to get to that stage im still killing myself on liquids....but back to the weight loss thing...i read a post that said you will stall at 3 to 4 weeks and start losing agian, and to keep your sanity THROW THE SCALE OUT THE WINDOW...
Typically you will be heavier in the afternoons because of what you take in for fluids and food. If you exercise and depending on the exercise and intensity you will see more fluctuations. I can go up 6 pound and down 7 pounds in a 36 hour period.

Very normal. I'd toss the scale for now if it's to frustrating. Maybe jump on once every couple of weeks, but don't do it daily. Also a weight gain through out the day is normal. I'll gain any where between 2 and 4 pounds a day. I am also a daily weigher (every day since surgery) but I also don't get frustrated by the number i'd see. It's just information, not a determination on how I am doing. I also took measurements and would re-do them once a month on my surgery day to see how I was doing.

OMG I am going thru the SAME thing! I also had my surgery on 3/15 and I haven't lost any weight in 4 days. I was high on life when I was losing almost 2 lbs a day then it just stopped! I can't seem to get off weight 227! It's driving me crazy and all these crazy thoughts are going through my head like what if I don't lose anymore weight and I got my intestines rearranged for nothing. Ughhh. I am still on a liquid diet and actually today, I can start purees. I hope it picks up again. I am freaking out too! :(
Thanks for the advice guys!! Guess I'll be stepping away from the scale for a while!! I am also going to back to my liquids but at least have pureed foods for lunch once a day so I can get some calories. And today I start going to the gym for some light walking/working out!! We will see what my weight is in about a week!!
You need to progress in the food stages like the dr and nutritionist said. A lot of people get in a rut and think that they need to keep doing liquids but you probable are stalling because you have been doing liquids. It is common for people to stand still as they go to purees and soft food. Just give it a chance. You will start losing again. It is common for people to stall at 2 weeks and 6 weeks. It will happen in most people at one time. Just keep following the program.

I'm right there with y'all. I haven't seen the scale move in a long while, it seems. I don't know if it's the foods I'm eating, or just how things go. I know I'm not getting in enough liquids, so I made some decaf tea yesterday to see if I'll drink that over water. Right now I'm eating oatmeal for breakfast. Just your regular run of the mill quaker maple & brown sugar.
Part of me goes... Well, I've lost 20 lbs, which is great. It's 20 more than I would have lost had I not had the surgery. But then, of course, the other part of me goes... I've only lost 20 lbs?! But I've actually gained some weight too... Why is beyond me. I was down to 241 a couple days ago and this morning I'm 242. I started this at 265, so... Better than nothing, I guess. Or at least that's the attitude I'm going to pretend to have.
