Having a bad day here..i need help with protein. I can not stomach any of what ive tried and i know i need to do something quick to get more in. I was doing the isopure grape frost ready to drink but the last two days they make me want to vomit. I have tried several other powders, but i do not like milk so im not to keen on the milkshaky type things. I am getting protein in my food, but not near enough and im worried. What else can i try? Unflavored powder? mixed with what to hide the taste? I drink a lot of crystal lite, what would mix with that and not taste awful?

I am having the same issue.  To up my protein, I've been drinking SF carnation instant breakfast, atkins RTD protein drinks (best tasting by far for me) and protein bars.  Any high protein food I've tried hasn't sat all that well with me (seafood/fish/meats/tuna) and I can't drink the other types of protein shakes or powders.  Pork has a lot of protein in it and that sat very well with me.  String cheese (pending the type) has 8g of protein and makes a nice snack.  I've heard peanuts are high in protein and make a good snack, but I haven't tried them yet.  I'm trying to get all my protein in through food (doc says that all protein should come from food by 6 weeks and not to do shakes anymore) and it's by far not an easy road.

Did you try adding grape crystal light (or some other brand) to the grape frost?

Many here recommend Nectar, but I do not like them either.

I do like the RTD Atkins and Muscle Milk Light - both in the chocolate.  I can tolerate the Isopure Zero Carb Vanilla if I mix it with the Atkins and add a bit of water.

I also add a 1/4 cup of dry fat free milk to my hot tea and coffee.

I really struggle with the protein and because my time for cooking is so limited I rely on stuff I can grab.  I do like the Supreme Protein Bars.  They have 20g of protein.

Try an unflavored protein powder.  Even if you mix it at half strength with crystal lite and drink twice as much, you  can get your protein in and your water for the day!

Good Luck

There are many, many suggestions on here about unflavored protein and how to mix.  If you are a coffee drinker, I have seen posts about that.....I am still on my liquid post op diet....I love the atkins shakes.  Hard for me to get the 3 in like the dr. wants but I do try to get at least 2 of them in.....If you look for recipes in the search area...I am sure you will find things that help:)

I hate most protein drinks - so I understand!  Have you tried making protein pudding?  I found that more tolerable.  Chicken soup unjury was tolerable -- not sweet!  Also, if you like hot beverages, try using coffee or hot chocolate as your base (you'll have to temper in your protein to avoid lumps).  I find that to be a better option.

Good luck!

I had the same problem.  I hated the protein drinks.  Some suggestions that may work.  Try unflavored protein in tomato soup.  There is a chicken soup flavored protein made by Unjury that a lot of people like.  I didn't, but you might.  I think they will send you a sample if you ask.  Once I got on mushy foods I never drank protein again.  I ate ricotta cheese baked with sauce, eggs and egg salad, really finely mashed tuna salad, lots of cheese, refried beans, and tomato juice.  I was able to get my protein that way.  Until then, you kind of have to suck it up.  Some tips on the protein drinks...try to make your protein as cold as you possibly can.  That seems to help.  Drink it in stages, 1/2 of it at a time or 1/4 if that is all you can handle.  Drink a sip of the protein drink followed by a sip of water.  Toward the end of my liquid stage I was counting the shakes I had left to drink (only 14 of these @#$% things left, ugggh).

Just try to keep in mind that this is just a short amount of time and things get so much easier in just a little bit.  That might help you get through this.

Best of luck.

Mixing the protein in a little water and then in my coffee is a real life saver.  I also make it in pudding and that helps too!  You can mix it the same way in hot chocolate and never taste the protein.

Good luck!!!

Greek yogurt has a good amount of protein in it. You can mix the crystal light in with it as well. Sugar free jello powder or Sugar free preserves is also good!

Good luck!
