How have your taste buds changed?

It is the oddest thing...vegetables. I wouldn't touch them with a 10 ft pole pre-op (well if it wasn't covered in ranch dressing)...now a little over a month post op I actually enjoy and want them...so strange.  My favorite right now green beans...I put some chicken in the crockpot this morning and making some sweet peas to go along with it.  I haven't had peas yet and I'm actually looking forward to them more than the chicken.  I can't stand anything sweet either.  My mother would never believe it!  LOL

Do ya'll crave or want anything you didn't prior to surgery?  Have your taste buds changed?

Oh yes! Before surgery I was a sweetaholic. Now things taste too sweet and I crave hot and spicy things. My current is pepper jack cheese and turkey pepperoni. I used to think Wendy's chili was spicy...pfft, not anymore! lol I also used to like cottage cheese before surgery but not so much anymore. And like you, I crave veggies and lean meats, especially seafood (crab, shrimp, scallops and tilapia). I would like to try some spicy chinese or thai dishes. I have never had thai food.

I am no longer a fan of sweet chocolate and vanilla things.  I seem to like peanut butter more (PB2 has been a lifesaver for me).  I always loved bean soup and pea soup, and I still like them.  I do crave something crisp such as a pretzel, but that's because I'm still on pureed foods.

A peanut butter replacement... less fat and calories. It is crushed to dust peanuts... good! Google it and you can probably get a better idea

Before surgery, I was a chocolatholic. For the first 4-6 months after surgery, anything chocolate made me ill. Unfortunately, it didn't last and I once again LOVE chocolate.

I had some early, temporary changes (I was much more sensitive to sweetness and saltiness), but sometime between 12 and 24 months out, everything was pretty much back to the way it was before surgery. The only lingering difference is that I sometimes actually crave green beans now.  I liked them before, but never actually CRAVED them!

I made the mistake of "stocking up" on sf puddings before surgery (1 pack per flavor).  I've always loved them.  Guess what - they are still in the fridge.  I can't stomach them.  I did try a little PB (melted down maybe 1/2 tsp and mixed with the pudding, it came right up (this was about a week ago) - I loved PB and still do.  Unfortunately, I can't handle it, at all now.  PB how I miss thee! lol...which I guess is a good thing!

I haven't tried anything spicy yet.  Although I love the turkey pepperoni too :-) I'm still testing my new pouch and deciding what it likes and what it doesn't...of course that changes daily.  It doesn't like some chicken, it loves eggs made any way, it craves milk, loves dairy products, it does okay with beef...its so touchy...I can do grits, can't do oatmeal (at all).  I haven't tried salad yet (though have wanted one)...am scared of the crunchy lettuce.  Doc moved me to normal foods yesterday - but am still going slow...

My taste buds changed a little after surgery, but then I was nauseated the first 4 months. Now I love everything again and have to manage it. Sucks.

As far as likes / dislikes, nothing has changed. I am kind of tired of sweet protein shakes, but I still "like" sweet.
Cravings? Now that is a whole other matter!!! All I can think about is that when I wake up the morning of Sept 27 I am going to cut a slice of tomato and have some. I have been craving tomatoes since I got home from the hospital!
