And I mean just that--baths. Bubble baths (with or without the bubbles).
I do -NOT- mean bathing in general. I love a long hot shower.
But baths have always eluded me. I don't get the allure. So many people swear by a long, relaxing soak, but not me. I think part of it because I've never had a bathtub to myself, but always had to share with kids, and I know what kind of gross things happen in our tub. Ew. No thanks.
But also because being fat in a bathtub kind of sucks. The water always rises up over the overflow valve, so the tub drains while I'm laying there, and I never feel fully submerged. There's never enough room in the tub for all my stuff to fit completely under the water.
I admit, one of the things I look forward to about being thinner is being able to fully submerge and swish around in a bathtub and see what all this "bubble bath" fuss is about.
Anyone else have opinions?

Although I haven't taken a bath in about 8 years, I love them. I stopped taking them because I have a leak somewhere that I can't find, and when I took baths and came downstairs, I'd always see evidence of water on my ceiling, so I stopped.
Baths are so relaxing especially with ho****er and bubbles and nice scented candles nearby. My dream is one day to be able to afford an oversized jacuzzi tub (thin or not).
As far as your tub is concerned, there is nothing going on in that tub that a little bit of bleach and soapy water can't kill. Trust me.

I'm not ashamed to admit my fears are less than logical. :) I have a weird germaphobic streak that no amount of bleach seems to kill. Plus...I watch way too many horror movies, and the nastiest, baddest stuff always seems to happen in the bath tub. Yeah, baddest. I wordified it.
Ever see the Blob? The original black and white one? Where the Blob crawled up into the dude's bathtub and ate him? And What Lies Beneath? And Nightmare on Elm Street? And Silence of the Lambs?
Weirdly enough, a giant oversized jacuzzi tub would kill all these fears. I have no idea how that works. I think regular bath tubs just feel a bit confined and claustrophobic. I always figured it wouldn't be as bad if I was smaller.
Really, it's a massive clusterf--- of issues. LoL!

You probably just need to replace the overflow gasket in the tub....where it drains at the top. I reverse the plate so the holes are at the top and I can put more water in the tub. It is really easy to replace....you just unscrew the thing, take off the gasket, put another one in (really cheap at Lowe's...just a couple of dollars) and then screw it back in really tight...upside down so you can fill the tub with more water.
Good luck :)
Husband said to tell you that the thick edge of the gasket faces down...one edge is thicker than the other.

I LOVE bubble baths (or baths with bath bombs even without bubbles), but my house has a standard sized bathtub (from 1978) and even with having lost the weight and being short, I cannot submerge everything at once. Shoulders and chest OR knees and part of legs have to out of the water... So if you are wanting to be submerged you will need a garden or spa type tub. My mom's old house had a wonderful tub with lots of jets. She never used it, but I did!

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I am weird about baths. I love a good hot bath. We are military and move every 3 years. 2 moves ago we had a new house and I would take a bath regularly. Our past two homes have been used. I can't bring myself to get in that tub even though I have scrubbed it down. Don;t get me started about the tubs in base housing. Most of those are really old. I don't want to think about them. I know it isn't rational. I'm normal in every other way...I think.
The awesome garden tub in our master bath was a big selling feature in my house. In my last townhouse, the tub was short, so I couldn't stretch out. The one in our new house has the perfect angle for leaning back and the perfect spot for a pillow. I could take a nap in there easily. I go through a large amount of bubble bath at least once or twice a week (like a half a bottle.)
I hope one day you can experience a bath as it should be...relaxing.

I'm a water baby and I love baths...epsom salts, bubble baths, oil anything is great. My current tub is a little long but I can submerge fully but I don't like floating LOL maybe once I lose more weight I'll sink a little more.
I usually only bath on sundays (shower every day) and that's the day I do a facial mask, give my legs, underarms etc a very good shave, cause when I shave in the shower I always miss a strip or two LOL. In the summer I also take care of my feet.
Plus I usually do my reading, today I finished a book in the tub :)
