I'm in also. The first one I'm considering is the Peeper 5K, a flat, out and back local 5k in a small town about 9 miles from here. Held the beginning of May, plenty of training time between now and then.

Well you already know I'm in. Just gotta figure out why my pelvic region and back get all whacked out from jogging. Last time I did a jog (and I did manage 5k!) I threw my back out. I didn't feel like I was pushing my body too hard (in fact I was surprised at how "not insurmountable" the whole thing was) so I'm not sure what's up with that. But I want to be careful not to hurt myself!

Stretching...yes.

WTF is an IT band?

I know I need running shoes so that's probably a good first step. My pelvic region I think it's just how my weight settled as it gets wonky after I weight lift too. My back? No idea. First time I threw it out post-op!

IT Bands are them nice muscley thingies down the outside of your thighs.  Running tends to make them tight and they get irritated easily if not stretched.  IT Bands totally suck because it will hurt anywhere in your thigh area knee to hip.

Shoes would be a first good step as if you aren't in the right shoes for your arches and stride you will just make your body mad.

Count me in!! I'm currently at W2 D3 of C25K. I really need to work on getting my cardio in since I just started spin class last night! I also suggested to my local Y that they have a class for those who want to run their first 5k. They're not starting the class until April so I'll already have a head start!

I need all the support and motivation I can get!

I'm signing up for a 5K in April!

The local running company is doing a C25K program starting in a couple of weeks, so a friend and I are signing up.

I need new runners if my joints are going to take this. If anyone has some favs, I'd love to know!
