New Gym & RMR Testing
We found a physician run fitness place (www.fasttrack.md), run by one of the local bariatric surgeons. We went ahead and joined, as the perks are great and the price is right, and most importantly, it's covered under our FSA account.
Today we meet with our personal trainer, and then on Monday we are getting our RMRs tested and meeting with the dietician. I'm excited about a new workout. I love swimming, but we just couldn't afford $90 a month for the YMCA anymore; the new gym is less than a quarter of that per month. I'm bummed about not swimming, but it is almost pool season, then we'll snag a cheap pass to the city pool. I'm hoping to see a jump in weight loss with a new fitness program and that'll make swimsuit season a whole lot better!
Just wanted to share, I'm stoked about it and my "real life" friends just can't understand why I might be so excited about getting up early and being drilled by a trainer! I knew you guys would understand :~)

coolness!
Be warned that swimming may not as be as easy as it once was. For many WLS atheletes that take up triathalons the swim becomes probably the most difficult part at first.

Triathalon is top of my list of things to do. I have the swimming and biking down. Well, I can do both. The swimming I already swim at a rate comparable to the times we saw looking at triathalon results. I am able to ride a bike but I am nowhere near ready for a long ride. I swim a mile in under 30 minutes now, so I hope to see that number get better as I get smaller and have less drag. I started on swim team at the age of 4 and swam competitively until I was 18, so hopefully it won't be an issue. I've been swimming as my exercise since I was 5 weeks post-op.
I would love to join the Masters team around here.
What's in a half iron man? I think that's what I saw in your signature line...

Gina that is so cool! I understand why you'd want to get up early and workout- it keeps you pumped the whole day! I love my crazy hard-@ass spin insturutor at 6am, she kills us...in a good way.
Hope you get into that pool soon too!

Oh no spinning for me...reading about people and their spinning classes makes me sweaty and scared. I don't think I'll ever balls up to the real thing. Much props to you.
I found out there is ONE indoor pool operated by the city, and it is covered under our passes when we get them, so I may try to pull in a few extra babysitting hours and buy one ASAP! Everyone is so shocked I gave up the pool.
I'm still mourning the loss myself.
