I'm just wondering what you all were told about what the lifting restriction is after surgery?  Also, how long did you have this lifting restriction?  I havent heard anything from my surgeon yet but I am sure that I will hear something when I go for my pre op appt.  I know that all surgeons vary but I just wanted to get a general idea.

THANKS!!

Less than 20 pounds and a couple weeks. But honestly, you'll know if you lift too much. If you have munchkins they may have to do lap cuddles instead of ups for a little while, but  everything in moderation, and it goes quick.  You may have to push rather than carry the laundry basket for a couple weeks.

I was the same as White Dove....lift nothing more than 10 1lbs.for the first 6 weeks.  I do not have small children and it was easy to get everyone to pitch in.

My lifting restriction wasn't given a specific weight.  I was told to only lift what I am comfortable with for 4 weeks.

if you lift patients you may be required to take more time off for post op care.  I have a desk job so only took 2 weeks off but if you do any lifting you could have to take up yo 4-6 weeks time.  Everybody's surgeon is different
