Regrettably, her surgeon told her to stop using the protein shakes and switch to "solid foods". He said it was adding calories.

I believe this is when patients stop losing, or worse —start gaining weight— it’s when they switch away from UNJURY switch to “solid” foods.

Not sure I've ever read a bigger bunch of bull**** than this ...   We all have a responsibility for what we post and this sales pitch makes me want to vomit!

I've never tried a protein shake or bar and have been a successful RNY'er for almost 9 years!

Same here, I quit losing 7 months ago. However, I recently had surgery to remove uterine fibroids and have been preparing my own meals since surgery (which is 2 and 1/2 weeks now), and I've dropped 7 pounds. (This is not counting the weight that I gained from fluid retention after surgery, this is from my pre surgery weight). I feel extra extra good about loseing weight at 19 months post op. I'm praying that I continue to lose, at least until I reach 170. My personal goal says 160, but I think I'm going to settle for 170, and have some peace of mind. I've gone back to protein shakes once per day, and 2 - 3 meat meals with no simple carbs.

I've gained and lost the same 4 pounds for 7 months.

Eat less move more.  Sorry did you want me to candy coat it.  If you feel like you can eat anything, are you, and the better question is why are you?  You can gain all the weight you lost back if you keep eating the way you did before.  Eat 1000 calories a day of low fat healthy meats veggies and fruit and you will lose weight.

What it comes down to...eat protein first.  In whatever form works for you.  Nobody can stay on protein drinks (any of them) forever as their main source of protein (whatever the reason, taste change, no satiety, boredom etc...).  So the time will come when you'll have to get the majority of your protein from food.  I am 20 months out and I still drink one protein shake a day.  But I also eat lots of protein too.  Remember - protein first, then veggies, then fruit.  Later on, some whole grain carbs are okay but limit them.  If you want to lose weight, I'd say very little to no refined flour/sugar of any type.  Get your good carbs from veggies and fruit.  For maintaining you'll have to figure out what works for you, but most have to limit carbs.

I didnt lose anything for a good 6 months and in fact gained a few pounds...about 3 months ago I started going to the gym and I more closely monitor my food. Little to no snacking and its always a protein when I do, cut out a lot of the carbs from bread, pasta, rice, sweets, potatoes (still have them occasionally but just a bite or two). Ive lost 18 pounds now since doing this and that is almost double what I lost all of last year.
