I have seen people mentioning the foamies when they get sick, and I am wondering what this means.  Thanks!

Oh the dreaded foamies!!!! The foamies are when you aren't throwing up, but you get a mouthful of foamy spit that just keeps coming and coming.

The foamies refer to salivia (that is foamy) that you produce when you've eaten something that is "stuck" (taken too big a bite/didn't chew enough).  The food gets "stuck" and your body continues to produce saliva, but since it can't get past the "stuck" item, it has to be expelled somehow, so you expel it by spitting it out -- it's foamy -- hence the name.  The foamies aren't painful, but the act that causes them--getting food stuck, is.

I agree with the above posters. I dry heave... but only foam comes out. Not the stuck food. Arrrgh. It sucks! You just have to wait for it to pass.
