I am 8 months out and still not enjoying fat-free food. They taste super nasty that after 1 bite I spit it out and lose my appetite.  I have been lacking on eating cause the fat-free foods are just so nasty. This morning I had a bagel thin toasted with fat-free cream cheese...... now that was just nasty..... People say I should be use to this since I am this far out...... But I am not getting use to it.... This is just so gross..... Fat free milk is the nastiest as well and so if fat free cheese...... anything fat free is nasty..... How do I get use to it without feeling like I wanna throw it up.....

I assume you'd get used to them after eating them for a while.  but if you don't like them (I don't think getting used to them necessarily means you'll like them), why are you eating fat free stuff?  Why not eat low fat instead, or even full fat in small amounts?  After all, we do need some fats in our diet.

Momma,

If you are 8 months out and still having difficulties then maybe there are some things that you can eat or drink that is not fat free??  just making sure the portion control and frequency is good.

not sure what your diet is or what you have been told to do by doctor and nutritionist but my doctor/nutritionist never said that EVERYTHING i eat or drink has to be fat free.  If that was the case i would be in the same boat as you.

I still drink 2% milk but i only drink milk every blue moon since i get my vitamin d through my vitamin pills.  You have to do what works for you.

Good luck!!!

This thinking is so 1990's!    I have never eaten a low fat or fat free diet.   I don't eat fried food etc often (very rarely) , but eat a diet rich in healthy natural fats.

You will find that removing the fat from food removes the taste and so a lot of these foods have high carb/sodium content to mask the nasty flavour.   Better to eat a controlled portion of something that tastes good and is good for you than something that has been processed to remove the natural taste and goodness and has probably had all sorts of chemicals added!!!

Like Kim said. The reason that most people eat a lot of fat is, it's delicious. But it also has more than twice the calories per gram as carbs and protein. So if you are restricting calories, you'll need to take them from somewhere else. I focus on protein first, then total calories, and don't worry about the fat.

The human body is very good at using fat, and you have to seriously abuse the wrong kinds of fat to cause problems. Too many of the wrong carbs will cause more medical issues than fat will.

Yes, what Kim said!  ^^^

Who told you that you had to eat only fat free foods? How are you going to get the fat that your body needs to keep your organs functioning properly, keep from getting constipated, and keep your skin and hair from drying out?

fat free is worse that normal foods. IMO.  Fat free was what made me fat in a first place.  Normal food, lower carbs is what makes my body happy.

I have never eaten fat free anything and don't intend to unless someone serves me some at their house. I agree with the other responders it isn't necessary and in my opinion it isn't always the healthiest choice.
