Hurt back - what can I take?

I pulled a muscle in my back Wednesday and it's still killing me after two days of taking it easy and alternating ice/heat. I thought about seeing my doctor today, but is there anything he can give me since we can't take NSAIDs? Has anyone had this issue post RNY?

There is the go to OTC Tylenol, or the doc can prescribe pain relievers and muscle relaxers. Hope you feel better soon.

I did have this issue. We can always take Tylenol... But luckily for me I had a muscle relaxer and pain med Rx from my sciatic nerve. I was able to take those after checking with the dr. Maybe ask your dr for something if Tylenol doesn't work.

I have pulled back muscles twice since my RNY (once because I apparently thought I was Wonder Woman and tried to move a large rock in the garden).

Both times my PCP gave me a muscle relaxer and about a week's worth of Vicodin. It took about 5 days for it to get completely back to normal.

My doctor prescribes Tramadol for my back pain. I usually refuse the muscle relaxers because they really don't do a thing for me but they may work for you. Luckily, the back pain has subsided since the weight has dropped but now and then it rears its ugly head.
