?? For food measuring people

Say you make a big pot of soup and the stats are for one cup servings. How do I know it's accurate?  Or do you just assume it balances out over time?  I am trying to be very serious about my measuring and this is keeping me from making soup

Spoon it out with a large spoon and measure it in a measuring cup. Freeze the rest in 1 cup baggies so its premeasured for future use.

That part i get. But say it is a chicken veggies soup, di I worry that one portion has more chicken than another?  I really don't want to count chicken chunks... I might be a touch neurotic

It's impossible to be exactly correct to the tiny number unless you take every single separate thing and measure it out.  Even the numbers on the packages we buy can't be exactly correct because of variations like you stated.  

I usually just put it all in my fitness pal for the recipe, and say I want 10 servings, I measure out 10 even servings by weight.  One might have more protein, but if I am careful you can get it pretty close.

When I've done a recipe, I weigh the ingredients individually as I add them. Myfitnesspal has a recipe function. Then I divide the whole into individual servings. Sure, one serving may have less chicken than another. But another will have extra. By by the time you eat all the servings, it evens out.

This is exactly how I do it.

Additionally, I have to add, that this is why I avoid casseroles and soups in general and try to stay with much more simple ingredients.  This was especially the case during my honeymoon period.

If the whole pot has 1000 calories and you divide in in 10 servings - each serving might have 100 cal +\- 20 calories or so. It'll all even out at the end bc the max you'll have eaten is 1000 cal. Exact precision is impossible and honestly from my experience too rigid of a lifestyle to maintain in the long run. It's important to have balance and flexibility to a certain degree - though weighing measuring and tracking are excellent tools.

Thanks for all your replies. I thought I was maybr being too rigid, but tracking food is one of the things that was reported for long term success. I take it all very seriously and I am an extremely serious person to begin with!

Another hint when eating soup.  Try and eat the broth portion first and leave the dense items to the end.  Stays in your pouch longer
