Trouble breathing and pain

Hello. I am 3 says post op and out of nowhere the pain swooped in like a MF. Oh my goodness. I was great immediately after surgery up until today. I started having a little difficulty taking deep breaths and all of a sudden pain in my gut. I'm trying to go to bed but I feel like I'm suffocating. I'm using the breathing thing they gave me and taking deep breaths and coughing. I'm staying at my dads until i can make the drive home. My little brother has a CPAP machine and I'm now currently hooked up to it. I feel like I'll stop breathing in my sleep. Im negative for sleep apnea. Is this a relatively "normal" post op feeling? Or should I go to er?

TIA,

Trish

I'm a newbie and I'm not a professional.

I had surgery about 1 month ago and my pain really kicked in day 3. You're No longer on the super good pain meds that were being injected straight into your blood stream. So it makes sense you would hurt more.

I also experienced discomfort breathing, especially while doing the little breathy thing they give you. However, I wouldn't say it was excruciating, just unpleasant.

That being said, at your level of pain I would definitely call my surgeon. See what he or she recommends. They, unlike myself, actually are professionals. ;)

Go to the ER if you are having difficulty breathing. Have someone drive you, or call for rescue. There could be many things going on that are serious, or just gas pains. Better safe than sorry.

Please let us know how you are doing!!

don't ever use anyone else's medical equipment. Using settings for someone else on a capo, when you don't have sleep apnea can Kill you.

Update: ended up going to the ER. Did ct scan and Doppler found blood clot so I'm getting it treated. Thank you all.

So glad to hear you went to the ER. Difficulty breathing with pain is definitely not normal and a huge sign of a blood clot. Glad to hear you're being treated.
