Morning Friends! Back from a lovely weekend in Vegas. Very bizarre to see it so quiet. The new happening thing to do if you live in Vegas is ride bikes down the strip. We saw big groups of families doing it, lots of kids. Loved that they were taking advantage of a crappy situation and finding some good in it. We did a pretty good job of staying socially distant, and all employees wore masks. Tables are thinned out for dining, and lounge chairs were thinned out for being around the pool. We were the first to check into our hotel as they reopened from the closure, only car in the lot. By the time we went to bed that night, the front lot was full. But everyone was super respectful and kept their distance. All in all, both food and space wise, it was a successful trip and I really relaxed for a change.

QOTD: Powdered sugar mini donuts. The little roll of them. I'd do the cinnamon coconut ones if I had to, but the powdered sugar was my jam.

Menu:

B: coffee and 1/2 PP shake

L: 1/4 cup refried beans, 2 ounce taco meat, 1 tbsp cheddar cheese

D: pork chop and ??? Maybe cauliflower fried rice -- so I guess I know which direction I should go with the seasoning the pork chop.

Peace, everybody!

I liked the cinnamon ones the best!

You are brave to try Vegas. I don't see myself in a place like that until years after a mandatory vaccine, but I am a wimp.

G'morning everybody!

Hope everybody had a great long weekend. Ours was pretty quiet. I think it was the first time that the social distancing hit me. Our house has always been party central for memorial weekend, 4th of July and Labor Day. It was weird and kinda sad not having anybody over. I know last your I was complaining about too many people here and even mentioned to skip town. But this year and this way was sad. The beaches are closed daily 11:00-5:00 to prevent folks from other counties to come here so our whole area was quiet.

Christina if you read this, you got my whole family hooked on Topo Chico. We couldn't find it locally so ordered the first batch on Amazon. When we realized the twisted lime is our favorite, I started looking for it in all the stores. Finally yesterday my husband said maybe we can find it in a town 4-5 miles south of us, being mostly Hispanic. First grocery store I walked in, they had them. I think they were looking weird at me because I bought the whole shelf of topo Chico (about 25 bottles). I asked the guy who was running the store if they have them regularly. His answer "Si señora, siempre!" I was so happy I almost hugged him. Needless to say we are no longer rationing our Topo Chico.

QOTD: not having grown up here I didn't have any of those ding dongs, Ho hos and other American delicatessen. I was introduced to them by DH who raved about them but my adult palate did not agree with his assessment. Growing up I loooved the bars created by Ferrero called kinder colazione. They had different flavors, my favorite was chocolate, and you would dunk them in your cafe latte in the morning. I gotta say my husband had the same reaction to them that I had to his beloved ho hos....yuck.

Accountability for the weekend: not bad but kinda loosey goosey.

My meals yesterday:

  • B: protein coffee
  • L: turkey avocado sandwich (no bread)
  • S: icecream cookie
  • D: BBQ chicken, roasted veggies
  • E: none

Have a great short week everybody.

This is awesome! I love Topo Chico, soooo much. It's so refreshing, I like the lime and grapefruit, but, since I fast I only buy the non flavored. I will tell you, on a hot day, you can squeeze lime, put crushed ice and a TC, and it feels like a beer! (I don't drink anymore, but this is a close second!)

I always take for granted how easy I can find some of the products that I love, being here in South Texas! I am so happy you found some. And yes, they are addicting, and yes, I always have NO fewer than 3 cases in the pantry, with one in the fridge always.

I don't buy beer or wine anymore, but I damn sure have Topo Chico!

Christina

Let it begin with me.

We tried the grapefruit, but lime is our absolute favorite. I'll try the crushed ice and lime version. I have never been a beer drinker so not missing much in that area.
It was a moment of genius to go to a Hispanic town to find TC. I'm sure being in South TX you can practically find it anywhere you go. I gotta say though, I love the mom and pop stores in this town...it reminds me of my hometown.
